Ways In Which Eye Makeup Remover Helps You Oxygenate Your Facial Skin

Ways In Which Eye Makeup Remover Helps You Oxygenate Your Facial Skin
Ways In Which Eye Makeup Remover Helps You Oxygenate Your Facial Skin

Author: Bettye

The naughty words in eye makeup remover circles are many. Ingredients not so good for the skin or eyes are Sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), Paraffin, glycol, Mineral oil, Toluene, and several others. Look them up on the Internet to know what to avoid when shopping for your product. The good guys are usually made in two forms, creme and liquid, and can both contain oil, and perhaps they won't. Either formula will be okay to use. Try them both and see what works for you.

A great positive side effect of using products to take off makeup on the eyes is the super moisturizing and conditioning that takes place. Lashes and delicate skin in that area suck up these beneficial ingredients. If lashes, especially, are cleaned up, there should be no more mascara residue finding itself into your eye.

Most shadow formulas are non-comedogenic, leaving skin pores free of clogging. Eyeliners are in the same category, especially liquid liner. It does not rub off or smudge as many pencil liners do, so must be physically removed. Contact wearers will be pleased with no dreaded residue from makeup ending up irritating the eyes. Even those who wear glasses after removing contacts, may find no smudged glass from old mascara.

No matter how late a woman returns home, before retiring, she is well advised to take off that old makeup. Remove it from the skin as well as the eyes and eyelashes. Get into this routine and stick with it for healthy skin. Foundations, blushes and shadows can do much damage by remaining on the skin for extended lengths of time. Never leave it on overnight. You start out with skin you were born with, then have skin you created, finally ending up with what you deserve.

There may be times that using your normal cleaning products is inconvenient or actually impossible. If one runs out of the cleansers, at least grab a few baby wipes of the unscented type and proceed gently. Skin care manufacturers also furnish wipes specifically for that purpose, for quick little freshen-ups. Blotting off an overabundance of skin oils is important to those who have that issue.

In times when you may run out of everything at once, using a few handy products, mixed appropriately, can do in a pinch. Baby oil, baby shampoo and water is one such mixture. Of course, many women keep extra product on hand, so they will not run dry, so to speak. Having a trick or two up your sleeve, will help keep your skin happy. These are temporary fixes.

If those simple ingredients are not available to you, try equal parts of canola oil, extra-virgin olive oil and castor oil, mixing well. Applying with cotton rounds, cotton balls or squares, and using gentle motions, will suffice.

Most any household organic-type oil could be used, with care, but there is still nothing like the special, carefully formulated commercial eye makeup remover products one can purchase. Lashes and delicate tissues around the eyes can be replenished with oxygen easily without the extra burden of mascara and eyeshadow on them.

Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

By Kristen Anders

To keep your hands looking soft and young, you need to take care of them all of the time and not just every once in a while. It takes a lot of care to make up for the wear-and-tear that the hands experience due to daily living, work, and play. In addition to washing dirt, grime, and other substances from your hands to keep them clean, there are a number of other strategies that you should take a look at in order to maintain soft, younger looking hands.

Sun Protection

Many people know to wear sunscreen daily on their face and arms. But too often they forget they hands. Too much sun can lead to skin damage on your hands as well, including dryness, wrinkles, and cancer. Therefore, it is important to protect your sun with sunscreen throughout your day. Even short intervals of sun exposure can prove to be damaging if they occur on a daily or weekly basis. For the best results, use a sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or more. Since you should be washing your hands regularly throughout the day, you just as often need to reapply the sunscreen to your hands. In addition to sunscreen products, you can purchase and gain protection from lotions that contain sunscreen protection.

Problems with Soaps

Did you know that soaps can dry out your skin? In fact, soaps that contain perfumes and harsh ingredients can do more harm than good. If you want your hands to continue looking softer and younger, you need to take care of them properly. Therefore, you should look for soaps that contain naturally moisturizing ingredients. In many cases, you are going to pay more for all-natural soaps, but in the end you are going to discover that it is worth it. All-natural soaps are often more delicate on the skin than ones with harsh chemicals. Avoid soaps with ingredients that are long and hard to pronounce.

Moisturizers

One of the best secrets to keeping soft, younger looking hands is to apply moisturizers liberally throughout the week. Once a day should be sufficient unless your hands are exceptionally dry. Try to use a skin moisturizer that contains natural ingredients known to soften skin such as glycerin, aloe vera, shea butter, and evening primrose oil. Each of these ingredients are known to soften the skin due to their moisturizing qualities. Most likely, you will discover that most hand lotions do not contain all of these ingredients. Purchase one and try it for a week to ten days to see how well your hands respond to it. If you aren't happy with the results, try a different brand of skin lotion.

Summer Skincare - What's Hot and What's Not!

Summer Skincare - What's Hot and What's Not!

By Ginger Burr

As the temperatures rise, the needs of your skin change. We're not only talking sun protection, although that is certainly an important component, we're also thinking about what your skin needs to adjust and be safe and happy in the warmer temperatures. Here are a few basic tips:

* The Sun & Oily Skin - If you have oily skin resist the temptation to over scrub your skin to control oil and shine. Over rubbing your skin will only stimulate the sebaceous glands and actually create the very condition you're trying to avoid, i.e., excessively oily skin (not to mention that it can cause more severe breakouts). It can be helpful to choose products that contain algae which detoxifies your skin and helps to control the oil.

* Don't be lured by the drying effects of the sun. Although it might initially feel like the sun is drying up the oil and clearing up your skin, it actually thickens the skin (hyperkeratosis) blocking your pores and leading to more intense breakouts shortly down the road. Believe me. I know this first hand from when I was a teenage...a day or two of fewer breakouts (albeit sunburned skin!) and then. Yikes...let me just say, it was not a pretty picture! The reprieve is very short-lived! If you are taking antibiotics to control acne, beware that it also causes sun sensitivity so applying a sunscreen is critical.

* Sensitive Skin - If you have sensitive skin stay out of the sun as much as possible, always (that means every day even if you are not planning to spend prolonged time in the sun) protect your skin from the sun when you are outside (preferably with active ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide), and choose skin care products designed for sensitive skin.

* Mature Skin - Choose your Age Management skincare routine wisely. If keeping a youthful appearance is your ultimate goal (and for most of us over 30 it is!), be careful what you use during the summer months. Alpha hydroxy acids, which many people use daily or as a special facial treatment, make your skin ultra-sensitive to the damaging effects of the sun. In other words, AHA's will not only make you burn more easily (and you're burning more virgin skin!), but they make you more susceptible to hyperpigmentation (sun spots) which is what you are trying to avoid or diminish by using them in the first place. If you continue to use Alpha Hydroxy Acids in the summer, apply them at night and be diligent (I'm not kidding!) about sun protection. If you don't, you're wasting your money and run the risk of further damaging your skin. Ditto for Retin-A users.

* Sun Protection - Sun protection has become a complicated and huge issue these days. When to apply, how much to apply, what number to apply, what spf ingredients to use, when (not if!) to reapply! Yikes! It can make you crazy. So, let me give you a few tips to demystify it:

o Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. There is very little difference between the protection in an SPF 30 and SPF 45 or higher and it often gives people a false sense of security about reapplying. Yes, no matter what number you use you need to reapply if you are out in the sun for any length of time beyond running errands.

o Be sure it protects for UVA as well as UVB - it has to say so on the bottle (the SPF factor only applies to UVB rays). And, two of the best ingredients are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (with no nanoparticles). In case you are wondering if it really matters, let me share with you that 80% of any discoloration or aging spots you see on your skin are a result of damage from the sun. That said...

o Not all sun exposure is "bad!" Apply sunscreen to your face and chest every day but leave your arms free from sunscreen several times a week while you are out in the sun for 15-20 minutes. Your body needs Vitamin D, and the most natural source is the sun. In fact, the majority of people are vitamin D deficient (especially those in the northern areas where you cannot get vitamin D from the sun for at least 6 months of the year!)

I know from personal experience how a vitamin D deficiency can wreak havoc on your health. Trust me, if you have not experienced that, it's not nice. Your body needs vitamin D and the best way to get it is naturally from the sun (and, that said, definitely take a vitamin D (preferably vitamin D2 so that no animals are harmed (and it's just as effective as vitamin D3)).

I am super pale and here I am sitting on the beach for 15 minutes with my arms free and clear to absorb my vitamin D naturally.

* Natural is better. When it comes to sun protection, natural is better. Remember, your skin is the largest organ in your body so whatever you put on it is absorbed. Until the FDA allows even more natural sunscreen ingredients (like natural botanicals) to be marketed that way, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (non-nanoparticled) provide the best protection with the least health concerns.

* Eat your veggies. I am into health and nutrition - always have been, and I can tell you it pays off. In this case, it helps with sun protection. Say what? Yes, you heard right. Eating your veggies offers you incredible antioxidant protection inside your body (which is where all skin cancers (and other cancers, obviously) start). I'm not talking about a couple of bites of broccoli. I mean...Eat Your Veggies! Lots of them at every meal.

Although each person's skin is different and has individualized needs, these are a few basic (very basic) guidelines to follow through the summer months. Having had acne when I was a teenager I understand the confusion out there around what to use to take good care of your skin.

Good skin care habits do make a difference in the look and health of your skin and since we look at our face very day it often directly impacts our self-esteem and self-confidence. The better care you take of your skin the happier you'll be when you look in the mirror.

Improving Your Daytime Skin

Improving Your Daytime Skin

By Calum Polr

If you are in the process of updating your skin care routine, adding an extra step to it or perhaps embarking on one from the first time the amount of information, advice and products available can be totally overwhelming. This article is designed to give you an idea of the steps that are universally accepted as part of a daily routine; it is going to focus primarily on a morning care routine. The notion that a routine in the morning is useless if you have not carried out your night time one is completely misinformed. Your morning skin care routine is just as important and splashing your face with water will just not be sufficient.

As I have just mentioned a comprehensive care routine requires much more than soap and water. If you purely rely on this you are going to be presented with serious skin issue if not now definitely in the future. Now that is out of the way you have to wade your way through the myriad of products, moisturisers, exfoliators, serums, facemasks and cleansers to name a few.

It is important that when you are making the decisions about what products to purchase and use for your skin care routine focus on three areas; protection, prevention and treatment. What can you expect to achieve from utilising and sticking to a tailored, easy to stick to regime? You can expect; clear, bright, youthful, and smooth, blemish free, fresh and even toned skin. Perfect!

Basic steps for an effective day time skin care routine:

Cleanse

As you sleep you would be surprised about how essential a cleanser is. This can remove the last traces of make up from the day before. Wash any grime from your face and prepare your skin for the day's make up application. You should pick a cleanser which is tailored to your skin type; it will therefore cleanse your skin and treat your skin's specific needs.

Antioxidant Serum

Essentially an antioxidant serum is like a concentrated shot of goodness in an easy application to your skin. The serum will tailor to the protection element of skin care; protecting against pollution and sun damage.

Sun Screen

The most important step in your skin care routine and the only truly effective anti-aging treatment. If you are concerned about preventing against premature ageing them you must have a sun screen in your routine. You have to use a sun screen daily even if it is nowhere near 70 degrees outside, make sure you use it EVERY day.

These three steps when adhered to will place you well on your way to achieving the skin that you have always wanted. It will protect your skin against damaging environmental factors and it will treat specific problem areas you have clearing them or making them massively improved.

3-Minute Face Care Guide to Great Looking Skin

3-Minute Face Care Guide to Great Looking Skin

By Jacqueline Carlton

Proper Face Care is essential and should be a part of your everyday routine. That means engaging in a skin care regimen that is free from your old habits that eventually lead to skin problems. It is no mystery that one of the main reasons for skin breakouts is over-stripping. Over-stripping is when you cleanse your face too much and/or too roughly more than twice daily. Cleansing your face this way, was long-thought of as good and necessary to effectively remove dirt and bacteria that cause acne. Excessive face cleansing can strip your skin of its natural oil, causing skin irritation because of the dryness and over stimulation of your sebaceous glands. If you continue with this kind of skin care ritual, you will successfully cause a skin breakout in no time.

Face Care is important but it does not require you to take hours at a time to do it. In fact, your skin only needs a few minutes of cleansing. Moreover, the ideal amount of time to do just that is within 3 minutes.

To illustrate further, here are the things that you will need to accomplish within those minutes:

1. Gently remove make-up using a clean washcloth or cotton pad starting from the chin then moving up. Do not rub on your skin too hard or forcefully try to remove make-up that is too difficult to come-off. This should take you about a minute to accomplish.

2. Wet your face with tepid water and lather a pea-sized amount of creamy facial wash (for dry and combination skin) or translucent gel cleanser (for oily skin) in circular motion all over your face. Give a little more attention to areas of your skin that need more cleansing. Doing this should only take you 30 seconds. The same rule applies when you are exfoliating your skin. Instead of repeating the process for another 30 seconds, use your exfoliating cleanser in place of your facial wash.

3. Rinse your face thoroughly with tepid water for another 30 seconds. This amount of time is enough to remove all traces of your make-up and cleanser from your face.

4. Take only a few seconds to pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Do not leave wet areas on your face and neck.

5. Gently apply a pea-sized amount of your favorite moisturizer all over your face and neck. A non-comedogenic moisturizer should be used if you have oily to normal skin and an alcohol-free moisturizer is the top choice for dry and combination skin. Refrain from rubbing the moisturizer on the sides of your nose or around your mouth. This routine should only take 30 seconds to accomplish.

Finally, always stick to products that are designed for your skin type. Never experiment with different products you see in the market without reading the ingredient list first. Remember the importance of not over stimulating your skin which can cause it to produce too much sebum. This means leaving behind some of your old skin care habits and creating a new habit of using a simpler Face Care routine.

How To Spray Foundation

How To Spray Foundation

By John Socratous

Most women, while putting on makeup, want it to look flawless and natural. Words such as "cakey" are anathema to them and most of the time their foundation is the culprit. If you are one of them, your best bet is a spray foundation which can give you the desired look with a thin layer. Also known as airbrush makeup, such foundation is sprayed from a can. There are various shades available, and it is easy to find a spray foundation that matches your skin tone. However, using this foundation may need a little practice. But once you have achieved that, it is the simplest and most beneficial way of doing your makeup you can think of.

There are two things you will need to try this kind of foundation: one is of course a good can of spray foundation and the other is some tissues. To use, first shake the can for some seconds and remove its cap to open it. Do not start by just spraying on your face; first test whether the nozzle is working perfectly or not by spraying on a tissue. If the nozzle of the can seem to be clogged, clean with a tissue paper first.

Now if the nozzle is clean, stand in front of your mirror. Hold the can about 6 inches apart from your face and keep the eyes closed. If you so prefer, you can keep your eyes open as well. If you keep your eyes open, you can see where the spray is landing, but it can also lead to the spray getting in your eyes. Start with your forehead and press the nozzle lightly and then move your way down. As you go down, you will see that your imperfections are getting diminished and your face sports a smooth and toned look. Slowly move the can all over your face and stop at the chin.

After the first application, take a look at the result. If the skin is not looking flawless, then repeat the spraying process to add another light layer.

Use the spray foundation not only on your face, but also on your neck, arms and chest, i.e. any other body parts that is exposed. It will cover the imperfections in those areas as well. When you are done, put the cap back on the can of spray foundation.

As for the foundation which will inevitably land on your eyelids and lips, wipe them off with a tissue. Use another clean tissue to gently dab away extra foundation in your face.

Do not forget the under-eye area. Use your fingers to rub the foundation in that area for a thinner, natural look. You can use your fingers to fix any area of your face that needs fixing for getting that flawless, natural look.

How to Keep your Skin Hydrated

How to Keep your Skin Hydrated

Author: Charlotte Bleasdale

Many people suffer from dry skin, whether on the body or, more commonly, on the face. We put our skin through a lot and expose it to all sorts of things so it's really not surprising. If you're finding stubborn dry patches hard to shift, here are some easy ways to help your skin back to its lovely smooth condition.

Skincare tips:

  • Wear sun cream (or foundation with SPF) all year round to protect yourself from the damaging and drying effects of the sun.

  • Drinking alcohol and caffeinated drinks can have a drying effect on the skin so try and cut down on these or cut them out completely of you can – at least for a spell.

  • Drink plenty of water instead – aim for around 8 glasses a day. If you find this tricky, keep a large bottle on your desk and you'll be surprised how easy It is to get through. Keeping it at room temperature rather than icy cold also makes it easier to consume.

  • Although it's good for your insides, water actually has a drying effect on the outside of your skin as it can rinse away your skin's natural oils. Hot water is the worst culprit for this, so if you can keep showers cool or warm rather than piping hot. Also make sure you wear gloves when you're doing the washing up.

  • Avoid washing with harsh soaps, especially on your face. A moisturising shower cream will be much gentler and replenish some of your skins natural oils.

  • Add a splash of oil to your bath to lock in moisture and nourish your skin. Natural oils like olive or almond are very effective and also inexpensive. These can also be applied to in a thin layer to damp skin when you get out of the shower.

  • Dry your skin gently with your towel in a patting rather than a rubbing motion. Dry skin is more easily irritated and rubbing vigorously can lead to rashes.

  • When you're thoroughly dried off, apply moisturiser to your whole body. Your skin is an organ so it's best to treat it holistically. You may wish to apply a more greasy ointment to problem patches, particularly before bed.

  • Exfoliating with a scrub is a good way to remove any patches of flaky skin that cannot be restored with moisturiser alone. Don't do this more than once or twice a week though and avoid completely if your dry skin patches are itchy at all as scrubbing will only irritate it further.

  • Try eating plenty of oily fish and nuts, or failing that take a vitamin E supplement or cod liver oil.

Fake Tan: It's Easier Than You Think

Fake Tan: It's Easier Than You Think

Author: Charlotte Bleasdale

If you've got milk bottle legs and are longing for a golden glow – don't fear the fake tan! Getting it right is easier than you think. Use it for a special occasion or do it at home to save money you'd spend at the salon.

Follow these three easy steps and you'll be looking chic and sun-kissed in no time.

Prepare your skin

Getting your skin ready for your tan is almost as important as the way you apply it and a step that women are often tempted to skip. We're not talking a last minute moisturise here! Here's how to do it properly.

The first step is to get your legs hair free so the tan goes on smoothly. Do this well in advance of when you plan to apply the tan – at least 24 hours before if you're shaving, or two days if you're waxing. If you do it too close your pores will be open and will collect the tan.

Next, use an exfoliating scrub all over your body to remove any dry skin. Give plenty of attention to extra-dry bits such as your elbows, knees, ankles and heels. This will make your skin extra smooth, allowing the tan to glide on easily. It will also prolong the life of your tan as you won't be applying tan to old skin that's due to be shed any naturally anyway.

The final preparation step is to moisturise all over, using more in those problem dry spots. Don't leave this until the day of your tan as it will stop the tan from sticking.

Applying your tanning product

Choose a shade of fake tan that's appropriate for your skin tone to get the most natural look. Whether you prefer spray, mousse, cream or gel is really down to a matter of personal preference so why not try a different one each time until you find your favourite? If you're new to fake tanning, a moisturiser with fake tan is a good place to start as you can build your tan up slowly and you can't really go wrong as it's so light.

Fake tan can stain your clothes, so just before bed is the best time to apply it. You can then pop an old pair of pyjamas on and give your tan plenty of time to develop overnight. Even so, you'll need to waist at least ten minutes before wearing any type of loose clothing.

Apply your fake tan with your hands, or if you're worried about them becoming too stained, wear latex gloves or a tanning mitt.

It's best to start applying at your feet and work up, or vice-versa. If you're worried about applying it to your face, try a special facial tanning cream that's more gently, or dilute ordinary fake tan with a little moisturiser. If it comes out lighter than you'd like you can always wear bronzer – better too light than too dark when it comes to your face.

If you've decided not to wear gloves you'll now need to thoroughly wash your hands. You can then add a light layer of tan to your hands (removing all jewellery first), blending very carefully between your fingers and at the wrists.

For a deep tan you can reapply up to three times, but make sure you allow you're tan to fully develop before adding a second coat or you could end up more tanned than you intended. You'll need to avoid having a shower or a bath for at least eight hours after you've put your tan on, and try to avoid water generally for at least three.

Maintaining your tan

To prolong the life of your tan and keep it looking its best, make sure you moisturise every day. After five days or so, exfoliate lightly to get rid of any dead skin and to ensure your tan does not go patchy as it fades. To keep your tan topped up, you can reapply your fake tan on the day of exfoliation.

5 Simple Skin Care Tips For Teenage Girls Wearing Make Up

5 Simple Skin Care Tips For Teenage Girls Wearing Make Up

Author: John Burrow

Skin problems is one of the major health problems that teenage girls have to deal with. At a time where your looks really matter a lot its important that you look your best. Bad skin can affect more than your social life. Although it should not, it does tend to affect self esteem and the way you feel about yourself. While there are certain things, like hormones, that you cannot do anything about the vast majority of skin issues is within your control and you can do something about it..

Make up can have a great influence on your skin and the health of your skin. For many young girls its something new on their skin and sometimes the reaction can be negative - especially if there are chemicals in the products. With that in mind, here are 5 simple tips to help you stay healthy and keep your skin clear and beautiful.

1. Try to always buy make up and skin care products that are made from natural products. Chemical based products are usually much cheaper but they tend to be much harsher on your skin and can often lead to skin problems.

2. Always test new make up before you use it. Use a bit on your ear lobes or under your chin and leave it for a few hours to see how your skin reacts to it. This is important when you try out new products for the first time and even when its "safe and natural" you should still test how your skin will react to it.

3. Always check the expiry date of any product you buy. This also means that you should use it before the expiry date. There is a good reason why products expire and usually its because they are no longer safe to use after that date. Often time when products are on sale they have a short shelf life left, so be careful.

4. Never apply too much make up - especially when your skin is prone to zits and acne. Sometimes it seems like a good idea to cover up bad spots but too much make up can actually make this problem worse.

5. Always clean your face properly before you go to bed. Make up can irritate your skin and you need to allow your skin enough "breathing time" while you are sleeping. Make sure you clean is off completely with a good facial cleanser.

Skin Care For Women Over 50

Skin Care For Women Over 50

Author: John Socratous

There was a time when for women over 50, it meant end of beauty and best days! They stoically embraced the great signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging skin and dryness. But with advancement of science is every field, and also rediscovering the ancient wisdoms of our grandmothers, today there are both natural and medical ways of preventing the skin from turning our worst enemy once we turn 50. Skin care has become easier that before; but it is only effective when done with utmost care and regularity.

When you reach the age of 50, you have to take care of skin in two ways; first you have to prevent further damages or limit the damages due to aging, and also turn some if not all the damages that already has happened. At this age our skin loses elasticity and moisture in a much greater speed and cell turnover also slows down. That is why women over 50 need products that are very proactive in working so that the skin gets adequate protection from sun, moisture is retained and skin regeneration gets a boost. With regular use of such products, you will see great improvement when it comes to wrinkles and fine lines.

The few things you will need for maintaining a skin care regime for women over 50 include facial cleanser, a moisturizer for the day with SPF and a moisturizer for night. You will also need a washcloth while cleaning and washing your face.

Use a gentle cleanser that has non-soap formula to clean your face two times a day, once in the morning and once in night. It is better if you go for cleansers that are specifically created for aging, mature skin like yours as they have most amount of moisturizer. Take about a dime-size cleanser in your hand and massage it slowly to your skin. Now wet a washcloth with tepid water and wash off the cleanser by rubbing with the washcloth. Use circular motion while doing that. When you wash off in such a manner, your face not only gets cleaned, it also gets exfoliated.

Remember that the sun is your worst enemy all the more as your natural protection system is now slowing down. So avoid direct sunlight as much as possible as it can also lead to skin cancer and faster aging.

After cleaning your face in the morning, use a serum or rich emollient cream to moisturize your skin. Look for those products that come with antioxidants like Vitamin C or peptides and protect your skin from both UVB and UVA rays. Such moisturizer for women over 50 generally come with SPF 15 or 30. Make sure you apply it to your face when it is still damp from cleansing; as wet skin react better with such anti-aging products.

At night, the moisturizer to use after your clean your face should be some thick cream that has retinoids like Retin-A or retinol. Retinoid have a tendency to become extra-sensitive to sun and hence you should use retinoid based products at night for maximum benefit. Just rub it gently to your face and let it work through for the rest of the night.
Women over 50 should make sure that they visit their dermatologist on regular basis. There are many health problems related to your skin that may come up at this age; and you need to protect yourself from them as well as along with protection from the signs of aging.

The Connection Between Beautiful Skin and Hydration

The Connection Between Beautiful Skin and Hydration

By Carol Belanger

Most people fail to realize just how important hydration is in maintaining a healthy body and beautiful skin. Maintaining the proper amount of fluid in the body at both the extra-cellular (outside a cell) and intra-cellular (inside a cell) is essential for cell health.

Proper hydration is critical; it helps the body assimilate essential nutrients and excrete toxins, assists in maintaining pH balances, and helps prevent kidney stones, constipation and urinary infections. Furthermore it reduces the signs of ages and keeps skin soft and elastic. Additionally the water content in skin helps it perform its protective functions.

Without proper hydration the skin looks dull, dry, and extra sensitive and it loses it suppleness. Additionally without sufficient hydration the rate of healing to damaged dermal layers are slowed, hair follicles can get blocked causing bacterial accumulation and even skin breakouts and acne take more time to heal. Additionally, when the skin is not adequately hydrated, it loses thickness, and offers less body protection from environmental factors.

Below are recommendations in which you can hydrate your body and skin:

Drink water - I know it has been said a lot but it is always worth repeating!

Moisturize - again worth repeating. A moisturizer can slow down the ageing process versus skin that is moisture deprived. While a moisturizer will not get rid of wrinkles, when your skin is not moisturized wrinkles will appear more pronounced.

For those that suffer with acne or oily skin, hydration should also be in your skin care routine. Oily skin may not need moisture but it still needs hydration. For instance, I have seen friends with oily skin yet still have dry flaky skin patches on their face, this is due to lack of hydration.

Toner - optional although I am a faithful user and believe in the benefits it provides.

Exfoliate - exfoliation is a gentle method to slough off dead cells. It promotes new cell turnover and circulation.

Protect - in today's world the skin needs protection from environmental factors so be sure to use a sunscreen.

Hydrating masks - clay masks are wonderful! Be sure to select the right clay for your skin type.

Avoid products that are stripping your skin of its natural oils. Be gentle with your skin and it will reward you in the long run.

From Editor's Email: Golden Globes Grooming Tips by Jeremy Renner's Makeup Artist

We just wanted to share with you makeup artist Helen Robertson’s tips on getting actor Jeremy Renner ready for the red carpet last Sunday for the 68th Annual Golden Globes.

I revived and invigorated Jeremy's skin with a spray over his face of Sampar Skin Quenching Mist followed by a powder puff with Payot Tonique Purifiant, applied patted over his skin, concentrating on the T-zone areas.

I then carefully applied Sampar Eye Rule with a gentle circular motion around his eye area and then moisturized his skin with Payot Hydration 24 Controle.

I applied makeup and a light powder. I finished the look with another blast of Votre Vu À Votre Santé Elixir Essentiel, which set the makeup.”

Simple Skin Care Tips to a Younger Looking Skin

Simple Skin Care Tips to a Younger Looking Skin

Author: Blake Jacobs

Almost everybody have their ways in keeping their skin healthy, smooth and achieve its younger looking status. Since natural beauty is better, many people choose to do the natural way or method of having and maintaining a beautiful skin. Many people maintain a daily skin care regimen while other do a regular exercise program like slimming, physical training such as a brisk walk, jogging and cycling. More and more women are becoming sensitive when it comes to skin care because they value their skin so much because it is considered an asset.

Skin care maintenance does not require much expense or money because there are natural ways on achieving it. Most of the natural skin care regimen is done or prepared at home for more convenience. The primary or the most prominent skin care regimen as many people might not be aware of is to have an 8 hour sleep during night time. Having a complete rest and sleep will give our skin healthy and have its radiant glow. Aside from that, getting ourselves to drink plenty or enough water hydrates our skin.

In addition, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables will give us the vitamins and minerals that we need. Once we get outside our homes, we can get dirt, and other kinds of allergens that may cause harm to our skin and body. It is noteworthy that right after we arrive, we need to get rid of those impurities by taking a bath. We can take a shower to remove dirt. Body brush or body scrub is also used to remove or peel dead skin cells. After bath, we must apply moisturizers or lotion to soften and moisturize the skin.

Body peel as well as body scrub is also performed in many medical spas today just like what Idaho Skin Care and Burley Skin Care offer. When going out of our house, we must apply lotion, makeup and other moisturizing creams that have high SPF to protect us from the sun's too much UV rays. In some instances, there are skin diseases or problems that need to be treated by dermatologists and other skin care experts. If this situation comes, we need to make sure that the medical spa or dermatological office have a valid license to operate.

Skin care and beauty products almost have the same ingredients. Let's say a whitening soap; almost all of them have the same ingredients that whiten the skin. They only differ in the level of content with the said chemical or main ingredient which usually in the form of vitamins, minerals and other natural substances. If a certain beauty product was advertised in the television using an artist as an endorser, the price of the said item becomes more expensive compared to similar products that have the same concentration.

Taking exceptional care of our skin does not start on the skin itself but also on the things that we eat and use for our body. If we take care of our body, we are also taking proper care of our skin. So, if we follow these natural reminders, then we can maintain our healthy skin however, once we take this for granted, for sure we will have more acne and develop wrinkles earlier than expected. Therefore, it is vital for us to follow them in order to achieve or maintain a healthy skin.

To end, daily skin care regimen is necessary because it fights acne, skin irritations, other skin problems and even wrinkles. Taking a bath and regular visit to medical spa and skin care clinics helps ensure a healthy skin. Daily bathing removes dirt and other impurities that we gather in our everyday activities. Therefore, any dirt or pollutant can be removed by merely taking a bath, skin peel and body scrub.

Natural Makeup… How to Get It

Natural Makeup… How to Get It

Author: NANCY NEGRON

Every single woman that I've met had the frustrating experience of looking for a natural makeup, a look that they can use on a day by day basis. A makeup that is light but at the same time makes you naturally beautiful. Sometimes we are just too afraid or we believe that is too difficult to get that natural makeup look. Here I will help you to get exactly what you want and you will see how easy it is to get the natural but perfect look you are looking for.

Skin Care

Every perfect makeup either the sophisticated fashion or your everyday natural makeup, must have as its base a good skin care regimen. I'm not talking about washing your face with any soap. I'm talking about a simple, but important routine of using a cleaner, a scrub, a tonic and finally a good moisturizer; we need a good but simple maintenance skin care. Every skin is different, and it needs different skin care; thus, you should choose your personalized skin care regime based on the type of the skin and the age of the skin. It's important to do this because you will give your skin the nutrients that it needs, and a well cared for skin will help itself to optimize the feel and look of our makeup enhancing its effects to your maximum potential.

Create the Canvas

The next simple secrets to getting a natural makeup is choosing the perfect foundation, and trust me, it is not rocket science. For oily skin you should use a liquid foundation, obviously oil free. Dry skin should use a foundation with a more creamy consistency. A sensitive skin should use a foundation specialized for that type of skin and the particular sensitivities faced. There are primers that can help you in many ways, from improving the life of your foundation to warming up dull skin. Finally, there are also concealers which will help you get that even tone of your skin that will give you the base for the natural makeup you want. Once you complete these steps you will have the perfect canvas to help you get the perfect look.

Natural Makeup Look

The final piece of the puzzle, in order to get that beautiful but natural makeup, is the color. The key here is to choose the color that will accentuate your features. For example, I don't use blush, I instead prefer to use a good bronzer because it gives my skin, in one step, both color and natural shine. For eyes and lips choose tones that create harmony between them, and accentuate your natural beauty. Seal your natural makeup with a good powder to achieve coherence in colors. Look for mascaras that provide what you need to help your eyes look more alive. There are a number of brow kits that will create perfectly arched brows to define and highlight your eyes to perfectly frame your face. Finally for the lips, I recommend filling those up with a lip pencil and then use the lip color of your preference, these will make your lip color last. And that is it! You just got a natural makeup look.

Natural makeup is a subject that we can talk about for days. Is really not that hard, is actually fun because you get to know what looks really good on you, and get to experiment and try new ideas, colors and combinations to enhance the natural beauty in all of us. The idea is to identify what to improve and how to do it. Don't be afraid to enjoy this journey!

Six Tips for Your Skin Care during Business Trip

Six Tips for Your Skin Care during Business Trip

Author: sunnysnow

To white-collar workers, a business trip is inevitable. If you go to a new environment, you may feel a lot of discomfort inevitably. How to maintain a good condition in the process of business trip? I would like to share some tips with you.

First of all, whether on business trip or not, I have to prepare a set of skin care product using in place I usually stay, this is the most basic equipment. For example, a lot of friends around me take half the time of the year flying in various places, but their regular living place is equipped with a set of skin care products which adapt to the local climate and environment, and their skin. It is the key to achieve perfect skin, never upside down to use skin care products suitable for business trip to replace the one suitable for place of usual residence.

In solving the basic problem, I would like to share some tips with you.

Tip one:Mask is a good choice for short-term business trip

If the business trip is one to three days, then the mask is my essential equipment, doing mask after long time flight can relax my skin so much. The proposed time for doing a mask is 10-15 minutes; special mask can be extended to 30 minutes.

Tip two: Herbs against drying

The most frequent problems during business trip are dry and remote acclimatized, in the same time, the unsuitable may cause allergy problem. Therefore, I always supply enough water for my skin, and carry some skin care products with blue chamomile, calendula, aloe ingredients which have calming and anti- Allergic function.

Tip three: Take a shower can make me relax mostly

Appropriate bubble bath can help me relieve pressure and balance hormones; while relieving stress, thinking about some problem quietly in the bath is also a good way to enjoy life.

Tip four: Appropriate massage is a good way

Proper massage is a good choice for soothing relief, especially now that some of the star hotels provide SPA services. However, you should learn to massage for your own. In fact, I am learning massage now and I have bought many massage equipment from one online store http://www.dinodirect.com/. They are very useful!

Tip five: vitamin supplements

You should avoid excessive vitamin loss. I always carry some vitamin nutrients, and bring some fruit or buy some in the local place directly for vitamin supplements.

Tip six: Aromatherapy essential oils to help sleep

In particular, I recommend some essential oils and vegetable oils to be prepared as the selection, such as a girl with pick-bed habits can carry some spray.
