Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

Tips for Softer and Younger Looking Hands

By Kristen Anders

To keep your hands looking soft and young, you need to take care of them all of the time and not just every once in a while. It takes a lot of care to make up for the wear-and-tear that the hands experience due to daily living, work, and play. In addition to washing dirt, grime, and other substances from your hands to keep them clean, there are a number of other strategies that you should take a look at in order to maintain soft, younger looking hands.

Sun Protection

Many people know to wear sunscreen daily on their face and arms. But too often they forget they hands. Too much sun can lead to skin damage on your hands as well, including dryness, wrinkles, and cancer. Therefore, it is important to protect your sun with sunscreen throughout your day. Even short intervals of sun exposure can prove to be damaging if they occur on a daily or weekly basis. For the best results, use a sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or more. Since you should be washing your hands regularly throughout the day, you just as often need to reapply the sunscreen to your hands. In addition to sunscreen products, you can purchase and gain protection from lotions that contain sunscreen protection.

Problems with Soaps

Did you know that soaps can dry out your skin? In fact, soaps that contain perfumes and harsh ingredients can do more harm than good. If you want your hands to continue looking softer and younger, you need to take care of them properly. Therefore, you should look for soaps that contain naturally moisturizing ingredients. In many cases, you are going to pay more for all-natural soaps, but in the end you are going to discover that it is worth it. All-natural soaps are often more delicate on the skin than ones with harsh chemicals. Avoid soaps with ingredients that are long and hard to pronounce.

Moisturizers

One of the best secrets to keeping soft, younger looking hands is to apply moisturizers liberally throughout the week. Once a day should be sufficient unless your hands are exceptionally dry. Try to use a skin moisturizer that contains natural ingredients known to soften skin such as glycerin, aloe vera, shea butter, and evening primrose oil. Each of these ingredients are known to soften the skin due to their moisturizing qualities. Most likely, you will discover that most hand lotions do not contain all of these ingredients. Purchase one and try it for a week to ten days to see how well your hands respond to it. If you aren't happy with the results, try a different brand of skin lotion.

Beauty Dos and Don'ts for the Summer

Beauty Dos and Don'ts for the Summer

By Muhammad Suhail

With the changing seasons, your beauty routine also needs to undergo serious changes. Summer is all about beating the heat and quite a challenge that can be. The key is remaining cool and fresh throughout the day, but that requires some hard work. Here is a list of beauty dos and don'ts for this summer.

Don'ts:

- Put on layers of makeup: With the summer raging on, you need to keep your face as light and natural as possible. Under no circumstances should you apply layer after layer of makeup. It would only get messy once the heat bears on and you start sweating. Inside, apply a little foundation and some powder, to absorb the excess moisture and remain cool.

- Forget Sunscreen: Battling the dangerous rays of the sun is very important. Not applying sunscreen is a serious risk. Not only are you exposing your skin to the very harmful rays of the sun, you are also increasing your chances of skin cancer.

- Go crazy with hairstyles: The heat and humidity can very easily fry your hair, making it look like you just received an electric shock; let your flat and curling irons rest for a while. Give the hair gels and sprays a break. Allow your hair to breathe and stay natural. A braid or a high top bun, not only makes you look elegant, it also keeps the hair away from your face and neck, making you feel cooler.

- Tan yourself: The sun does quite a good job of darkening your skin so go easy with the self tanners. It would make you look an inhumanly orange which is just wrong.

Dos:

- Exfoliate: Summer is all about keeping the skin healthy, but using less of the moisturizer. However to avoid cracked, dry skin, try exfoliating your skin every now and then. Loofahs and pumice stones can help even out your skin giving it a smooth and even feel.

- Wear a lip-gloss: Wearing a lip-gloss will not only make your face appear fresher and lighter, it will also give a hint of color with just the right amount of shine.

- Go for lighter shades: This summer with rising temperatures, try to stay as cool as possible by wearing light shades which absorb less heat. Lighter shades of blue, green and yellow, all add a spot of color while making you feel less stuffy.

- Drink plenty of water: Summer or not your body always needs to be hydrated. But with soaring temperatures, it is very crucial for you to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

How To Apply Lipstick on You

How To Apply Lipstick on You

By Amna Bibi

When it comes to looking beautiful, one thing that should be kept in mind seriously is the lipstick and its correct usage. From the lipsticks' colours matching the theme of the occasion to the tones, shades and its application, all this matters a lot to have a perfect beautiful look in you. Besides all this, the age should also be considered as the colours of the lipsticks differ from that of young girls to grown up women.

The big question then comes that if one gets all these things right from the shades to the curves and all, then how to actually apply that in perfect manner to get the maximum look. Well, its simple. The thing to keep in mind is that the lipsticks are used to beautify, and if not done in the right manner than that looks rather ugly. So before you put on your lipstick you must clean your lips with a swab which is dipped a little with cleansing milk and gently clean your lips with that. Soaps should never be used for this, because the lips have very soft skin.

Then comes putting on the foundation creme, and after it dries, you should first make an outline with a lip liner and then move on to fill in the lipstick of the colour that you want to use according to the theme of the occasion. If somehow, your lipstick spreads out, then you must cover that with use of powder in that area. Usually those who are not practiced with the use of the brush, which requires an expert, they end up spreading it out of their lips.

Another trick to avoid any mistake in applying the lipstick is the use of a dressing table when preparing your self. In this way, you can rest your elbow on the table while you apply the lipstick, and that will not let your hands shake. After you are done with applying the lipstick, then you should keep a tissue with which you can wipe out the extra bit to make the colour just the way you want.

These are some of the simplest ways to apply the lipsticks correctly. Using these tips will help you make your desired look come true. So go for it and have a good time at the party or whatever occasion you want to prepare to yourself for. You will definitely find yourself unbelievable.

5 Simple Skin Care Tips For Teenage Girls Wearing Make Up

5 Simple Skin Care Tips For Teenage Girls Wearing Make Up

Author: John Burrow

Skin problems is one of the major health problems that teenage girls have to deal with. At a time where your looks really matter a lot its important that you look your best. Bad skin can affect more than your social life. Although it should not, it does tend to affect self esteem and the way you feel about yourself. While there are certain things, like hormones, that you cannot do anything about the vast majority of skin issues is within your control and you can do something about it..

Make up can have a great influence on your skin and the health of your skin. For many young girls its something new on their skin and sometimes the reaction can be negative - especially if there are chemicals in the products. With that in mind, here are 5 simple tips to help you stay healthy and keep your skin clear and beautiful.

1. Try to always buy make up and skin care products that are made from natural products. Chemical based products are usually much cheaper but they tend to be much harsher on your skin and can often lead to skin problems.

2. Always test new make up before you use it. Use a bit on your ear lobes or under your chin and leave it for a few hours to see how your skin reacts to it. This is important when you try out new products for the first time and even when its "safe and natural" you should still test how your skin will react to it.

3. Always check the expiry date of any product you buy. This also means that you should use it before the expiry date. There is a good reason why products expire and usually its because they are no longer safe to use after that date. Often time when products are on sale they have a short shelf life left, so be careful.

4. Never apply too much make up - especially when your skin is prone to zits and acne. Sometimes it seems like a good idea to cover up bad spots but too much make up can actually make this problem worse.

5. Always clean your face properly before you go to bed. Make up can irritate your skin and you need to allow your skin enough "breathing time" while you are sleeping. Make sure you clean is off completely with a good facial cleanser.

3 Essential Beauty Tips for Men

3 Essential Beauty Tips for Men

By David Light

It may sound strange to be discussing beauty tips for men, but men are just as concerned about their appearance as women. However, they may not be aware that there are many helpful ways to enhance the impression they portray to others. This is not only important when enjoying the company of women, but also vital for business and social settings. Here are three essential beauty tips for men that one would be amiss to ignore.

1. Physical Grooming -- The first area that should receive attention is physical grooming. Men often feel that the daily shower and shave process is all the cleansing needed. This is not true. Everyone, men and women alike should pay special attention to good facial cleansing morning and night, including weekly facial masks to cleanse pores to prevent blackheads. This is definitely not an exclusive feminine grooming need. Following thorough cleansing, trim or otherwise remove any wild hairs on the eyebrows, nose and ears. Most barbers perform this trim as part of the regular haircut, but the need will often arise between barber visits.

Concerning the shaving process, another tip is important. Men should either be cleanly shaven or wear a neatly trimmed beard. The stubble look portrays a look of laziness and is no longer fashionable. Experiment with aftershaves and colognes to find the right fragrance for your body chemistry. Men should always smell nice, but the wrong or too strong a fragrance will be offensive.

2. Cosmetics (You Heard Me!) -- The next area of beauty tips for men may be surprising. Most men think that wearing makeup is not even to be considered. However, there are makeup products made especially for men and one of the most popular is called a guyliner, which is regularly used by many celebrities. Using a small amount of dark eye shadow on the eye lids will emphasize your eyes and produce a smoky and sexy look. If you have uneven skin tone on your face, a little foundation can be used to blend away the blotchy look. And keep a tube of lip balm with you at all times to keep your lips moist, especially if you hope a date will end with a goodnight kiss.

3. Context-Driven Style -- No list of tips would be complete without addressing clothing. The most important consideration is the type of occasion for which you will dressing, from an elegant restaurant, a serious business meeting or a movie date. Every man should possess at least one high quality suit, with appropriate shirts and ties. If you are unsure of the right style, enlist the help of knowledgeable staff at a fine clothing shop. Clothing does not have to be expensive, just well fitting and stylish, but the correct clothing is certainly worth the price. When dressing, to help ensure you are wrinkle free, hang your clothing in the bathroom while you shower. The steam will remove any wrinkles.

Incorporating a few of these beauty tips for men into your daily regimen will make you stand out in a positive way and give you the natural confidence that will make you look good as well as feel good.

The Gentleman's Guide to Skin Care

The Gentleman's Guide to Skin Care

Author: Tiffany Windhurst

Proper skin care and nourishment is just as important for a man as it is for a woman. In fact, in many ways, it's more important.

Not only are men more likely to perspire, they tend to pick up more oil, dirt and other contaminants. The daily ritual of shaving can dry out the skin, as it strips away natural moisture and can lead to chafing and roughness. Even men with facial hair can be prone to clogged pores and hair follicles, which can lead to breakouts, rough skin, irritations and sometimes possible infections.

Luckily, following a skin care regime is really quite simple. The three basic steps are cleansing, moisturizing and protecting.

Cleansing: Wash your face twice a day with a mild, soap free cleanser. If you are prone to oily or dry skin, products that are made for these problems are obviously the best choice. When you wash, start by rinsing the face with hot water. Rub the cleanser on in circular motions to help penetrate the pores and gently massage and exfoliate. This will prevent the build up of dirt in the pores. Once you're done cleansing, splash your face with cold water at least ten times. This will close the open pores, making it difficult for dirt to find its way in.

Moisturizing: There are moisturizers specifically designed for use by men. You should always apply a light moisturizer after washing to help replenish and nourish the skin. Facial skin can be prone to bouts of dryness, especially when exposed to weather, sports, heavy persperation and so on. There is nothing rugged or handsome about dry skin.

Protect: Sunburn causes discoloured areas of skin, can lead to skin cancer and other diseases, as well as causing skin to flake and peel. A good sunblock should be applied even for short excursions in the sun. Men often forget to reapply after heavy activity, so keep a bottle handy to reapply after cutting the grass, swimming or playing sports. Again, perspiration can wash away the sunblock, so always have some on hand to protect your skin.

Neglecting your skin is not a guy thing, it's a silly thing. Your face will stay with you throughout your life, so you should be taking steps to keep it looking its best at all times.

How to Look Slimmer

How to Look Slimmer

Author: Tiff Windhurst

Does this make me look fat? While your spouse may roll their eyes when you ask that question, it's actually a valid query.

Certain styles and colour will draw attention to pudgy areas, while others will give our bodies more flow, allowing us to look slimmer. If you want to look a little lighter than you are, it's a matter of highlighting the good areas and detracting from the thicker areas.

Black is Slimming: This old wive's tale is completely true. And it's not exclusive to just black. Dark, solid colours, such as black, navy blue or dark brown have a slimming effect and make you appear thinner. You should avoid heavy patterns, especially horizontal stripes. The stripes actually add width to your body and make you appear larger.

The Right Shoes: Your shoes are an important part of your wardrobe. They complement the legs, and the style is key to completing the look you desire. Wearing shoes that are the same colour as what's dressing your legs, be it pants or pantyhose, will elongate your legs and make them appear slimmer. Short ended round or square toed shoes can make you look stubby, whereas long pointed toes will continue the thinning look.

Skinny Jewels: Jewelry can attract attention and broaden a slim face or narrow down a large face. Long dangling jewels are the best accessory choice to reduce the look of broadness. Earrings that hang straight and low are preferable to large chunky styles or oversized circles. The same holds true for necklines, as long necklaces will give you length where as bulky beads will make you look wider.

Finally, the most important part of maintaining a slimmer appearance is standing correctly. Stand straight and tall, with correct posture. Slouching will make you look bulkier, so always stand and walk straight, with your head up, arms at your sides (not crossed) and eyes forward.

Caring for Your Manicure

Caring for Your Manicure

Author: T. Windhurst

If you've spent a great deal of time and effort preparing and polishing your nails so they look fabulous, you should put forth just as much effort in maintaining and caring for your manicure.

Painted nails look best when they are shiny and freshly polished. Once nail polish starts to chip, crack or flake it detracts from the glamourous look you started with. Keeping your nails and cuticles looking their best simply means knowing when and how to apply touch ups, and when to start fresh.

While applying your polish to your nails, be sure to wait about five to ten minutes between coats. This allows the finish to harden and will prevent pulling or smudging. Applying layers too quickly means the polish itself takes longer to dry, which is why nails end up creased or smudged.

A little nail polish remover on a cotton swab is a great way to spot touch any minor mistakes. If you've painted onto the cuticle or the edge of your finger, gently dab it away.

A small chip in your nail polish can usually be covered by applying an extra coat to the nail. Do one or two layers over the chipped area, then apply a full coat to the entire nail to keep everything looking smooth and seamless.

After about a week it's time for a fresh coat. Fingernails are constantly growing, so it's important to remove old polish before it looks haggard. Furthermore, it's important to give your nails a little air, which they don't get if they are constantly covered with nail polish.

When you are preparing to apply a new coat, that's the best time to shape, file and trim your nails. Don't forget to push back or trim your cuticles as needed. Applying a little oil or moisturizer to the clean nail and cuticle will keep your nails richly hydrated and strong.

Of-course, we can't forget the best advice for beautiful nails: no chewing and no biting!

Perfect Mascara Every Time

Perfect Mascara Every Time

Author: Tiffany Windhurst

The last thing you do for your eye make up is generally the mascara. It's almost a shame, because you need to do it last to cover any powder that's fallen onto the lash, and yet, if you make a mistake you'll ruin the whole look and have to start over.

The secret to good mascara is finding the right mascara that does everything you want it to do. Choosing the brand, colour or style that your sister or friend uses may not give you the results that are best for you.

Before buying mascara, decide what you want it to do. Are you looking for long, thick lashes, or just a clean and distinct set to offset your eyes. The type of mascara you buy will determine how it looks. Volumizing, lengthening and so on, the benefits of each product is written on the package. So, don't buy what you don't want.

The type of brush you apply it with is also important. If you want thick lashes, use a thick brush with lots of closely set teeth. If you want definition in your lashes, choose a brush that has long, wide set teeth. Much like the type of mascara you use defines the look, the right brush makes all the difference.

If your eyes are sensitive and you don't want mascara bleeding into them, use a wax based mascara, (commonly waterproof mascaras). If your eyes are normal, then you should use water soluble mascaras. They may not be waterproof, but they do come water resistant. The benefit of water based mascara is that its less likely to streak and it's easy to take off, especially if you do make a mistake.

When it comes to mascara, black is always best. If your lashes are really blond, you can get away with a brown or brown-black coloured mascara, otherwise, basic black extends the lengthening effect of mascara. It's also easier to maintain and is less likely to make slight clumps stand out conspicuously.

Once you find the right mascara and the best brush to get the look you want, you'll have perfect mascara every time.

5 Fast Beauty Fixes for Today To Get Glowing Skin

5 Fast Beauty Fixes for Today To Get Glowing Skin

Author: Kim Snyder

Thought it would be a great day to give you a few fast beauty fixes for the one thing we all want, but just at times can't seem to have, glowing youthful looking skin.

Who doesn't want lustrous, glowing skin? It gets you noticed in a crowd as someone who really cares about how she looks. Great skin is something that one can cultivate at any time. Doesn't matter your skin type, a great skin care technique will make you forget about those days of hiding your bad skin.

Glowing Skin:
Tips you can do that help create the skin you have always wanted.
1~ Exfoliated your skin weekly. You can use pre-made products or create your own. There are many recipes out there for a simple face scrub. There are many recipes using fruits or vegetables that will exfoliated and leave your skin feeling baby soft. We recommend you test it on your arm before using it on your face. Exfoliating 2 -3 times a week removes dead skin cells to help your skin look younger.

2~Using natural/organic skincare products if at all possible. There are many brands available today so take your time to decide which works best for you. Here is a great list of what organic skincare ingredients are and what the mean. http://www.benaturalorganics.com/our-ingredients.html

3~ Never wear your makeup to bed! If you find yourself too tired to take the time to remove your makeup at bedtime, have on your bed stand handy makeup wipes. Not the best product to use all the time but your skin needs to breathe and if you leave your makeup on overnight it may cause your pores to get blocked and cause breakouts. That is the last thing your skin needs.

4~ Going outside? Don't forget your sunscreen! Wearing sunscreen helps prevent sun damage and help the stop of premature wrinkles. You can't undo sun damage that has been already been done but you can prevent more. Skin cancer is one of the biggest cancers that we can prevent by something as simple as remembering sunscreen. Recommend SPF 15 or higher.

5~ You need to stay hydrated and getting your sleep at night. There is truth in drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Tired-looking skin is often because you didn't get enough sleep or drink enough water for that day. Get your 8 hours of sleep and drink your water can make your skin look younger by keeping your face looking softer. Drinking fluids for the day doesn't mean diet soda either. Diet soda has salt in it which happens to be a drying agent used in many products. Lip Care Essentials

Lip Care Essentials

Your lips get a work out during the average day. Eating, drinking, speaking, singing or humming, your lips are in use quite a bit of the time. Having nice looking lips means having healthy, well cared for lips.

The products you use on your lips can often be picked up and digested as you eat and drink throughout the day. Read the labels of your lip care products or cosmetics so you know what it's made of. Natural ingredients are always the best choice.

When you start to feel thirsty, your lips will show it. They become dry and rough looking. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent this from happening. Licking your lips actually makes them more dry, plus it messes up any lipstick or gloss you are wearing. You should also avoid roughing up your lips by biting or chewing on them. If you are a chewer by nature, get some chewing gum. Pens will leave their ink behind on your lips and teeth.

Protecting your lips includes a good moisturizing balm with sunscreen. Your lips are constantly exposed to the elements, and suffer from wind and sun burns. You lips will chap up and dry out causing cracks and sometimes bleeding if you don't use a good moisturizing lip balm.

Applying a deep moisturizing oil, such as coconut oil before bedtime is a great way to keep your lips soft and supple and replenish any lost moisture. We remember to pamper our faces, hands and feet with moisture treatments, but the lips tend to be forgotten. You can also use shea butter or sesame oil.

When applying a shade of lipstick, first line your lips with a complimenting shade of lipliner. This helps define the area of your lips, as well as helps keeping the lipstick from bleeding and smudging. Follow up your colour with a shiny lip gloss to seal it in. A little dab of gloss on the centre of your mouth will give you the infamous model's pout, or you can cover the entire mouth, making your lips shimmer and shine.

Properly Applying Eyeshadow

Beauty is one of top concerns of all teenage girls in the United States. They are very conscious of how they fit into the social ladder and they feel that beauty will make the difference and help them climb higher.

The media does not help with their obsession. Beautiful models are photographed advertising various products, but even these beauties are not enough.

Most of the time these models are touched up with computer to make them even more stunning, but they are unreal. This sends the wrong message to young teenage girls because many of them believe that this computer touched up look is the look that they should be striving to achieve.

This has led to a variety of techniques that are intended to increase the beauty of a person. One of these techniques is the application of makeup.

The proper application of makeup takes practice and research in order to do properly. Unfortunately, many people do not know how to properly apply makeup and they end up taking away from their natural beauty instead of enhancing it.

One of the trickiest parts of the application of makeup to perform correctly is the application of eye shadow. There are two general ways in which you can apply eye shadow.

These ways are commonly called "rounded" and "winged." The rounded look is best for some people while the winged look is best for other.

In general, the rounded look tends to look the best on the majority of women, but only experimentation with various colors in these two methods will determine which look is the best for you. In order to save time, apply one method to one eye and the other to the other eye.

It is possible that both methods could look equally striking on you. However, an examination of your eye can also indicate which method is the best for you.

For example, if there is very little room between the crease of your eyelid and your eye and between the crease of your eyelid and your eyebrow, you will want to use the winged shape. However, if there is significant sagging of the skin in that area, you will probably want to use the round shading.

To begin application of the rounded eye shading, spread a light color across your eyelid. This color should cover the area between the lash line to the eyebrow.

Then, use a medium colored eye shadow to color the eyelid. Apply a light amount of the same color under the bottom eyelashes, but be careful not to make it noticeable.

Then, use a darker or brighter color to draw attention to the outer corner of the eye lid. Be sure to blend the three colors well so that there are no stark lines.

After you have applied the color, you will want to line the lashes with an eyeliner pencil in the appropriate color. This is the most basic way to apply the rounded eye shading.
For a more advanced makeup look, only apply the medium colored eye shadow to the inner corner of the eyelid. Then, apply the darker or brighter color to the crease of the eyelid and on the outer corner and blend well.

The winged shape eye shading is also very easy to apply. Begin by using the light colored eye shadow to color the area between your lash line and your eyebrow.

Then, use the medium shade of eye shadow to color the eyelid. Take the brighter or darker color and color the outer corner of the eye and pull the color slightly out.

Be sure to blend well. Blending is the key to making the eye shadow look natural.

Many people forget this step and then their coloring looks very artificial. When you have properly blended the color you will want to apply eyeliner.

In general, the rounded type of shadowing is best for eyes that are hooded, surrounded by sagging skin, or deeply set in the face. Older women should generally use this method of coloring.

Most of the time, the wing type of shadowing will be best for those who are young with very little sagging around the eye, but deeply set eyes. The advanced method of rounded shading is ideal on prominent lids on younger women with deep set eyes.

The advanced method of wing shading is generally best for younger deep set eyes as well. With properly applied makeup, you will be able to find more self-confidence which will lead to greater success in your life.

Leslie Tyler's Red Carpet White Carpet & Special Occasion Tips

Leslie Tyler's Red Carpet, White Carpet & Special Occasion Tips

  • Don’t change your skin care products during the couple of weeks leading up to the event. You never know how your skin will react.
  • Don’t get a facial right before the event. Give at least one week of time between a facial and a big event. The more problematic your skin, the more time you need between your facial and your party.
  • Don't allow your lashes to look clumpy. It’s distracting. Brush your lashes (with a lash brush) after each application.
  • Don’t let your hair take away the attention from you! Avoid updos if they are not done by a pro or practice, practice, practice if you are doing it yourself.
  • Avoid too much body glitter & glow. It can make you look sweaty.
  • Do keep your brows neat. Plucking your eyebrows is a task that takes time to master. A trip to a professional for a good wax & pluck is well worth the time and money spent.
  • Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!
  • Do choose a hue that you are comfortable with. Bright colored gowns and dresses stand out but if you are not used to wearing them, don’t!
  • If you are going sleeveless toned arms say ‘I’m hot!” Do some extra arm exercises at least 30 days leading up to the event.
  • Smile!
  • and...Remember, the most important thing you can wear is self confidence.
