CP - Bargains for Beauty

Courtesy Post

With all of your endless summer expenses ranging from trips to cute swimsuits to fun activities, there may not be much left in your budget for impulsive beauty buys. You really do not have to max out the credit cards for beauty products, as long as you know what is best to save on and what you can splurge (a little) on.

-Know what your preferences are and what you prefer to save on and spend on. A cleanser is a product that you can generally save on since it is only on your skin for about 20 seconds, but probably spend a little extra for a good moisturizer. I use a cleanser from Clean & Clear, since I am still prone to breakouts. If you have dry skin, use a more hydrating cleanser like the one from Cetaphil.

-Buying your sunscreens at the drugstore is also a great way to save. Brands to check-out include: Coppertone and Banana Boat

-There are some great makeup brands found at the drugstore for a more reasonable price and a comparable quality to some of the products that you find at your local cosmetics counter. Some of the drugstore brands are associated with top department store brands (Estee Lauder, which owns MAC and Clinique, is behind all of the beauty brands found at Kohl’s and L’Oreal owns Maybelline and Lancome so it is also associated with a high-quality brand). Target also features brands created by popular makeup artists: Jemma Kidd and Sonia Kashkuk.

-Other ways to save:

- Clip coupons from magazines or the paper

- Stock up when your favorite products are on sale

- Wait for gift time at your favorite cosmetics counter so you can take advantage of good size freebies

- Go to outlet cosmetic stores (usually overstocked or discontinued items show up at these stores)

- Shop around at various online stores: Amazon, Drugstore, Beauty, and evenSephora can run great specials

- Sign up at your favorite cosmetics site to hear about promotions or freebies

Cheers!
