Summer Travel -Creating Better Beach Photos - Samsung

With the scorching sun shining and summer in full-swing, many families are heading out to the beach for extended vacations, weekends and even day trips. Taking photos at the beach can be quite the challenge with the ultra-bright environment often playing tricks on digital cameras. Samsung offers the following tips to assist in creating better summer beach photos while taking the bright sunlight into consideration.

  • The bright sun reflecting off of the sand and water can fool your camera’s light metering system into thinking your subject is too bright, which will unfortunately result in an underexposed image. In order to ensure that your photos are properly exposed when shooting at the beach, take a look at your digital camera to see if it offers a beach scene mode.
    • This specific scene mode will automatically program your digital camera to take the best photo possible in the bright and reflective environment. When set to the beach scene mode, your camera will know that it’s taking a photo in a bright environment and will properly expose the scene, or more importantly, your subject.
  • It may seem a bit silly, but taking beach photos is also an opportunity to make use of your camera’s flash. While you may not think about using a flash on a bright, sunny day, it’s actually one of the easiest things you can do to help make your photos pop, especially if you’re taking photos of your children! Very sunny conditions can often cause unwanted shadows to appear on your subjects’ faces. By simply turning on and using your camera’s flash, you can make sure that shadows won’t be an issue and that you’re able capture that perfect smile for everyone to see.

Guest Post:Top 10 Summer Garden Accessories

Top 10 Summer Garden Accessories

Finally, the worst winter in years has passed and the sun is shining again. Summer is a time to be outside, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather. There is no place better to soak up the sun than in your own garden. How does spending weekends chilling on the patio with a cold beverage, savoring a delicious grilled meal with friends or family sound? If this appeals to you, then you can make this dream a reality with the help of a few patio and garden gadgets. Here is a list of the top 10 garden accessories sure to make your summer a memorable one:

1.BBQ Grill – We all know that grilled food tastes better so step away from the oven, close the microwave door and cook up something special on the fantastic Weber Genesis e-320 grill. Large enough to meet all of your grilling needs the e-320 model will make hosting parties a breeze.
2.Patio Furniture – Now that you have your grill you need somewhere to sit back, relax and enjoy your meal. Outdoor furniture come in all shapes, colors and sizes so there are always sets to match the décor and dimensions of your patio. It is worth spending a little extra on good quality waterproof set because cheaper models tend to rust and fall apart quickly. If space is an issue, consider folding chairs and tables that can be easily stacked and stored away.
3.Propane Heater – With a propane heater keeping your patio warm there is no need to retreat to the house after dinner when the cooler night air starts to set in. Seek out a model with at least 8kw of power and you will be able to enjoy relaxing and dining outside all year round.
4.Fire Pit – Achieve the campfire experience in your backyard with your very own fire pit. If you are looking for a more authentic alternative to the propane heater or just love toasting marshmallows, the fire pit is the perfect accessory for you.
5.Bug Zapper – An electronic bug zapper is an essential product for your patio. There is nothing worse than bugs flying around your face as your eat your meal. Put a stop to it with one of these extremely handy gadgets.
6.Hammock – Hammocks are a great way of relaxing in your backyard. If you don’t have any trees to attach it to there are models that come with sturdy, easy to assemble stands capable of turning bland outdoor spaces into a Caribbean paradise!
7.Wireless Outdoor Speakers – Turn your patio into a tropical hangout with a set of wireless outdoor speakers. Connect directly to your home theatre system, mp3 player, radio or any sound source for an easy-to-use, cable-free music listening experience. Ideal for dinner parties, BBQ’s with friends or just chilling after a long week at work.
8.Tiki torches – Add some stylish lighting to your patio with a set of Tiki torches. These relatively inexpensive torches will provide a peaceful ambiance to your outdoor space and also work well at keeping the bugs away.
9.Hot Tub – Hot tub prices have dropped dramatically in the last five years so they are now a much more affordable accessory. A hot tub can transform a bland patio into a vacation resort. Amazing for spending time with your significant other or relaxing with friends.
10.Patio Umbrella – While the theme of this post is encouraging you to get out and enjoy the sun, this doesn’t mean direct contact all the time! For those of us with sensitive skin or who enjoy reading outdoors a patio umbrella is an essential product for providing some shade.

LWC: Chill The Pomegranate Red Tea

Lisa's Weekly Coffee

By Lisa Sandrino

Chill The Pomegranate Red Tea

I love shopping at Marshall's department store especially at their gourmet section. I always stop by the coffee and tea section just to see what new and exciting flavors they have. As I came across the VYKASA Pomegranate Red Tea, I immediately say to myself : "this tea would not only be good hot but it would also make a refreshing summer beverage".

I went home and brewed up a cup of tea added some sugar and allowed it to chill in the fridge.
OH MY! I was right! It is totally refreshing and smells so sweet , its like sipping a cup of fresh berries.Simply Delicious!

The pomegranate red tea is a combination of black and green tea with just enough of the sophisticated and exotic sweet pomegranate, that truly brings out the richness in the beverage and obviously it is also important to highlight it's healthy benefits. Pomegranate tea is a great antioxidant tea either hot or cold.

Celebrity Hairstylist Amoy Pitters Hits New York Fashion Week

Celebrity Hairstylist AMOY PITTERS hits New York Fashion Week

Breathing Renaissance Romance Into the Tents, Backstage at the Eryn Brinie Show

Learn from Amoy first-hand, how to achieve this ethereal and wind-swept, yet effortless look:

Step 1: Begin by applying the René Furterer Volume Mousse from root to end to achieve texture.

Step 2: Working on dry hair, use a 1-2” curling iron to create a soft wave through the crown. Spray a brush with RF Dry Shampoo to create volume, after adding Amoy Couture Hair clip-on extensions to add fullness and length to the hair.

Step 3: Using a comb, brush back the hair at the root, sweeping the hair to one side and creating a long braid. Continue to comb the braid back to create lose flyaway’s for a soft, renaissance look.

Step 4: After the application of makeup, put on the look’s final touches by spraying the hair with RF Finishing Spray, securing any loose hairs.

ABOUT AMOY PITTERS:

A New York beauty industry veteran, Amoy Pitters has had a passion – and natural talent – for the worlds of hair, beauty and fashion since the start of her career. Mentored by industry icon, Odile Gilbert – and featured in the famed work Her Style – Amoy launched her impressive career as a sought-after hair stylist in the fashion industry, booking her career-first fashion show in Paris, styling the locks of the runway models for the Christian Dior couture collection in January 1998. There, recognizing her unique skill set, Amoy was asked by the show’s production team to style the house’s legendary designer John Galliano’s own hair for his final bow. Soon after, Galliano himself began requesting Amoy as his personal hairstylist. Fashion maven Donatella Versace was next in line, after taking notice of Galliano’s newly styled locks. From there, Amoy was in-demand worldwide, styling hair for editorials and fashion shows, and transforming the looks of supermodels, Hollywood starlets, iconic fashion designers, Grammy award-wining musicians and, of course, Amoy’s everyday clients at her modest East Village salon in New York City. Today, her impressive clientele includes Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, Joy Bryant, Selita Ebanks and Maggie Rizer. On the heels of Fashion Week, Amoy is opening the doors of her full-service beauty salon in New York City’s Upper East Side— Amoy Couture Beauty. Finger Foods For Your Super Bowl Party

Lisa's Weekly Coffee: Finger Foods for Your Super Bowl Party

Friends Super Bowl Sunday is almost here, like me I'm sure many of you are going to throw a Super Bowl Party.

Are you ready ? I sure am.

I came across some wonderful finger food recipes and a fun and exciting cocktail to share with your family and friends.

Super Bowl Cocktail: TOUCHDOWN source listafterlist.com

Here is how you make this alcoholic Super Bowl drink:

4 oz bourbon

8 oz lemonade

8 oz iced tea (unsweetened)

Combine bourbon with iced tea in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain equal parts into two Hurricane glasses filled with ice. Top with lemonade. (Makes two 12-ounce servings.)

Confetti Quesadillas with Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese source 3aday.org

12 soft corn tortillas*
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim Colby cheese
1/2 cup fresh corn kernels or black beans
1/2 cup coarsely chopped cilantro
1 red bell pepper, finely minced
1 jalapeño pepper, finely minced
Cilantro Yogurt "Sour Cream"
2 cups plain nonfat yogurt
1/4 cup finely minced cilantro
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat large skillet over low heat.
Line up six tortillas. Divide cheese, corn, cilantro and peppers between the tortillas, then cover each with a second tortilla.
Place a tortilla on the dry skillet or grill and warm until cheese is melted and tortilla is slightly golden, about three minutes. Flip and cook other side until golden, about one minute. Repeat with remaining quesadillas. Cut each into 6 wedges.
Serve each wedge with a dollop of Cilantro Yogurt "Sour Cream."
Makes 36 wedges.

Cilantro Yogurt "Sour Cream": Line a large strainer with a coffee filter or paper towel and place over a mixing bowl. Pour in yogurt and let sit until some of the liquid has drained away and the yogurt is the consistency of sour cream, about one hour. Transfer to small mixing bowl; stir in cilantro and salt. Makes about 1 1/2 cups. ( Straining yogurt gives you a no-fat version of sour cream with a light tang that blends nicely with cilantro. Try it with chili and other spicy dishes as well.)

* Flour tortillas (6 to 7-inch size) can be substituted for the corn tortillas.
