With oily skin and humid weather conditions, makeup staying put is rare. However, with the right techniques of application and the right kind of products you can defeat the forces of nature and make your makeup last longer.
Now, before you start remember the rule of thumb to invest in reputed, good quality brands, which promise what they preach.
Applying foundation- This is the most basic and vital stage of makeup application. Apply a uniform coat of foundation on the face (choose one that matches your skin tone). Another layer should be applied to conceal marks and spots. It also ensures that makeup sets better and lasts longer. During the day, I prefer using Nars makeup primer with SPF as it offer sun protection too. Apply mineral or loose translucent powder over the face, with double layers on oily areas like the nose, forehead and jaws. Pat it on the eye region also.
Eyes- After powdering the eye areas. Line both eyes with pencil eyeliner (preferably waterproof). Powder lightly again and reapply the liner or top it with a liquid eyeliner to help it stay put. Apply another coat of mascara after the first one dries of completely. Then do the eye shadowing.
Blush- Cream blushes last longer than powder ones. I love the glowing finish that Jane Iredale cream blush gives to my skin as it contains moisturizing agents.
Lips- Pick a long-wear lipstick like the Estee Lauder stay-in-place lipstick. Coat the lips with a similar color liner pencil and blend well. Then apply the lip color. Get rid of excess color by pressing a powder coated tissue between the lips. Finish with a gloss.
