As I sit here wearing my bright white shoes on a rainy day I am suddenly reminded of the old adage, “you aren’t supposed to wear white after Labor Day.” Not sure where this rule came from or if I should feel embarrassed right now for breaking it I decided to do a little research.
Turns out history buffs are as puzzled over how this tradition started as any average person. Some believe people in the 20’s started wearing white in the summer months because it was simply cooler. Without dark clothes the sun wouldn’t be attracted to them as much and they could stay cooler.
