Silk Scarves: How To Tie A Silk Scarf 4 Different Ways

Silk Scarves: How To Tie A Silk Scarf 4 Different Ways

Author: m. roug

Knowing how to tie a silk scarf is often what keeps an individual from using them to enhance the look of an outfit or style. A few colorful variations and lengths will enable each person to achieve their desired effect.

1. One way is to take the scarf and fold it in half. Bring each half around the neck so the ends are laying even in the front. Slip the two loose edges through the folded part and pull until snug or let it fall loosely at the desired length.

2. Another rendition of the first idea is to pull the length of fabric around toward the front. Tie once and then make a loop with each individual strip, overlap the two loops and make into a bow. This can be done either close to the neck for an accessory to a suit or more loosely if using it with a sweater or blouse.

3. Those who have longer hair can use it around a ponytail in the back. Bring the strip from underneath and tie it at the top. Either make it into a knot, or create a bow. Take the two lengths and make a loop with each strand, then fold one loop over the other and knot them together forming a bow. The ends will fall down at the back creating some colorful drama to an outfit.

4. Silk scarves can also be used as a belt for a straight-cut dress or slipped through belt loops for a pair of dress pants. An interesting detail for a plain dress is to bring the scarf around from the back, tie it into a knot and add a large broach in the center.

Any of the above methods can add the needed touch of color in a style that suits the individual. With some experimentation, it is easy to learn how to tie a silk scarf.
