A Celebration of Women—

The New York Women’s Foundation Hosts a Leadership Reception

in anticipation of the Celebrating Women® Breakfast

In preparation of the upcoming Celebrating Women® Breakfast, The New York Women’s Foundation® (NYWF) brought together leaders of the Foundation with prospective members interested in the efforts of NYWF, at the private residence of Lisa Fitzig for a special Leadership Reception. While enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, guests mingled and shared personal histories with the Foundation. Ana L. Oliveira, NYWF President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the dedication and commitment of those in attendance to fulfilling the NYWF mission.

Introduced by Oliveira, NYWF Board of Directors Vice Chair, Diana L. Taylor addressed guests, sharing her experience with the Foundation and how she became involved with NYWF—through her attendance for the Celebrating Women® Breakfast, she was struck by the power and camaraderie of the room full of thousands of woman standing behind the work of NYWF.

Providing insight into the work that NYWF funds, Cecilia Gastón, Executive Director of Violence Intervention Program, Inc., a grantee partner of the Foundation, articulated to guests the moving story of one family to whom her organization is providing support through the efforts of NYWF.

The NYWF Celebrating Women® Breakfast is set to return for its 24th year on May 12, 2011 to honor NoVo Foundation President Jennifer Buffett with the Vision Award (awarded to a strategic philanthropist whose contributions are focused on women and girls) plus NPR’s Latino USAAnchor & Editor Maria Hinojosa as well as Human Rights Advocate & Artist Faith Ringgold with the Celebrating Women® Award (awarded to women whose significant achievements have influenced the lives of – and provided a role model for – women and girls).
