Fashion Spring Clean: Update Your Lingerie Wardrobe
By Imogen Croft
Ladies - when was the last time you paid attention to your lingerie collection? It must be something that you update with the seasons or at least twice a year. Why? Well take a good long look at your lingerie drawer. If you still don't see any problem, then picture a stranger taking a look at your lingerie drawer. Yep, the once whiter-than-white bra you love is more a shade of grey, the trusty black balcony bra that goes perfectly with a dress you own is distorted into looking more like a mangled mess. You are the only person who will buy you lingerie so be prepared to treat yourself, indulge in one of life's necessities. Perhaps it's time to take on a different method to your lingerie purchases?
Here are five tips to help you on your way to a perfect lingerie wardrobe...
Bra-fitting
Firstly, get bra-fitted. If you've changed shape at all then you may need to get fitted more regularly. Also if you're buying a different make or shape of lingerie then you must get fitted every time you buy something completely new.
Create a Lingerie Drawer
Secondly, it's important to create a lingerie drawer which works for you and your needs. Purchase the following: t-shirt bras with seven matching simple knickers (these are for everyday use so comfort is key here); five beautiful sets (this will suit your style and personality - sexy, sensual, sporty or one of each and every occasion).
Make Sure You Multi-Way
Thirdly, whether you're a social butterfly or a home bird there will be the occasion when a good multi-way bra is a must. Choose one which goes strapless, halterneck and cross-over at the back. This bra will come in very handy during the summer months, too.
Sexy AND Comfortable Nightwear
Fourthly, the chances are that if your lingerie drawer needs updating then your nightwear will need addressing, too. The trick is to marry sexiness with comfort - yes it does exist. Also, you will need some lounge wear in soft cottons or cashmere that you can wear around the house while cooking or cleaning.
Don't Forget your Hosiery
Finally, if you haven't given your lingerie drawer much thought then your hosiery drawer might also need some attention. Whether there are bundles of tights with little elastic left in them or odd stockings, throw them out. Invest in an array of tights and stockings which compliment your wardrobe, but not too many - be bold throw away old hosiery as you go.
