6 Great Looks For Men
It is true that women have more options in terms of looks and wardrobe versatility. Madonna is the prime example of one woman who sports (and owns) a ton of different looks. For men it's a bit more challenging, but doable nonetheless. Here are six looks for men and what makes them great.
1. The scruffy look:
A few years ago, scruff came back into style. And it wasn't just facial scruff, it was the whole look that came with it. That means worn jeans, worked in boots, beat up leather or denim jackets, messy hair and a cool, big pair of shades. The just-rolled-out-of-bed look can look sloppy on some men, but if pulled off well, it can also be very sexy.
2. Clashing colours and patterns:
Most people would look at purple next to burgundy and think 'no way'. Just as they wouldn't ever consider polkadots and stripes. But the other day the world's most beloved football star, David Beckham was on Jimmy Kimmel wearing both of those combos and looked fabulous. A bright purple striped shirt with a burgundy polkadotted tie. I guess every fashion rule can be broken.
3. The chic geek:
Believe it or not there are ways of dressing down a three-piece suit. Pair it with a pair of beat up shoes, and a dorky haircut and you've got yourself an old look made young and trendy. A lot of trendsetters are also wearing bowties with cardigans and rolled up Chinos, hoodies and sports jackets, and braces and fedoras.
4. The polished suit:
There are few things more attractive than a man in a sharp suit. Suits might not be every guy's favourite look, but they make even the scruffiest guy look successful, ambitious and together. The key with suits is not to cheap out. If you want to look polished you need to wear nice fabrics, that don't stain or smell easily and hang well.
5. Accessory abilities:
A man who knows how to incorporate accessories into his look boasts confidence and stylishness. Depending on the look you love, you might choose to splash out with bright coloured socks, a classic briefcase, a posh umbrella, designer cufflinks or vintage sunglasses.
6. The punk look:
A lot of people associate punks with black eyeliner, spacers in their ears, a mohawk in their hair and a skateboard under their arm or microphone in their hand. While this look sounds extreme it doesn't have to be. A lot of men have a little bit of punk in them but they don't go as far as painting their nails and wearing thick, leather cuffs on both wrists. They might have a little mohawk- cute, or small spacers- also cute.
Do any of these looks sound appealing to you?
