Authentic Italian Drinks

Authentic Italian Drinks

By Paolo Donati

Italian drinks, of many different types, play an important role in Italy. Everyone, worldwide, knows and loves Italian food. Afterall, who can resist a hot, crunchy crostini, a sinfully creamy plate of fettuccini alfredo-twirled, of course, not cut--or a generous slice of fresh-baked pizza? Not to mention the gelato! But what about the signature drinks of Italy? If you haven't been there, you may be hard-pressed to come up with anything other than wine, but anyone who's spent any amount of time on "the boot" knows that the Italians take their beverages as seriously as their entrees. (And their appetizers...and desserts....)

In Italy, dinner is a social event that can easily last several hours, and it's customary to begin the festivities with an aperitif to stimulate the appetite. An aperitif may be a soft drink for the kids or the teetotalers in the crowd, but is most often wine, cocktails, or liqueurs. One of the most popular cocktails is the Bellini, a champagne-and-peach-puree concoction invented at Harry's Bar in Venice. Its pinkish hue calls to mind the colors used in toga paintings by its namesake, 15-century Italian artist Giovanni Bellini.

Also popular is the highly alcoholic (25% or so) Campari, a dark red bitters commonly enjoyed with soda water, wine or in cocktails. Citrus lovers may want to try the famous Limoncello, made in Southern Italy. This sweet, pale yellow drink is made from the zest of the lemons rather than the juice, so it is fruity without being sour. While traditionally served as a digestif, it can also be enjoyed as an aperitif. Other flavored liqueurs include Frangolino (strawberry), Maraschino (cherry) and Nocino (nut).

Once dinner is served, the wine begins to pour-and wine is, of course, an Italian specialty. Perhaps the most famous Italian wine is Chianti. Initially, this Tuscan wine was made from white grapes, but over the centuries evolved into the dry red wine that's sold today. It's usually consumed with heavy pastas or red meat. For lighter dishes, such as fish or seafood, a dry white wine such as Pinot Grigio may be served. And of course, a sweet dessert wine such as Asti Spumante is always welcome with cake or biscotti!

Once the forks have been laid down, Italians like to indulge in a digestif, an after-dinner drink to aid digestion. Often, this once again takes the form of a liqueur, but those who don't drink alcohol-and indeed, even those who do-will enjoy experiencing the Italian passion for coffee. Like Americans, many Italians drink several cups of coffee a day. Caffe is what we might refer to as espresso: an eye-openingly strong shot of coffee served in a very small cup. Caffe can be ordered Hag (decaffeinated), con panna (with whipped cream) or con zucchero (with sugar).

For the more adventurous, caffe can be ordered corretto-that is, "corrected" with a spike of liqueur. Often this is cognac or nut liqueur, but can also be Bailey's, or the egg-based wine, Vov. And on a steamy summer day, few things are more refreshing than a caffe shakerato, which, amusingly, is just what it sounds like: a combination of espresso, sugar and ice which is shaken vigorously until foamy. Many bars even have a specialty house coffee drink. Like all of Italian cuisine, Italian beverages are meant to be savored!

Essential Fashion Rules for Men

Essential Fashion Rules for Men

Author: Kristin Willis

Men are clearly more free-spirited individuals than women. As you can see, they do things at random and manage things their own way, habitually giving no consideration to social rules. The same pertains with their fashion style. Men usually wear anything they feel is fine and comfortable without thinking how it is going to be noticed by others. Regardless of their personality, there is still a chance to change especially when formal events are concerned. All kind of clothes follow certain rules. Wearing formal attire in a formal occasion is something that has been set up. Since men are not excused from being invited, they might as well provide sufficient concern to their clothes if they don't want to appear out of style and out of place.

When searching for clothes to wear during a formal affair, it is vital to consider these essential rules. Don't fret about looking rigid and plain with what you wear like a stylish black suits or a handsome tuxedo. Including your own style to your clothes is likely if you have a good understanding of the basic factors of fashion.

  • Initially, if you're going to go to formal party, a white dress shirt is the safest bet since it matches any special event such as a white or a black tie event. Guarantee that it's not translucent because it might be disapprovingly observed by other guests. Now the problem though with white dress shirts is it can be boring especially on a relaxed location but you can wear conservative or muted colored dress shirts or something with patterns to add more style.

  • Another rule that you must remember is that you should wear fitted tuxedo suits or black men suits. While you can sport loose clothes in a casual affair, fitted dress shirts and pants is vital in a formal occasion. The problem when wearing loose dress shirts is that you might look sloppy and drab and if you wear it too tight, you'll look absolutely uneasy. Mainly, pants should not be too short, too baggy nor too tight. To avoid a mess like this, purchase pants that are too long because you can always have it shorten by a tailor.

  • Finally, accessories on your formal attire are essential as well to complete your look. Belts, shoes and socks colors should always match but remember that socks must always be black.

We're looking…Royal Wedding

We're looking…Royal Wedding

Author: bear125

It's official-Kate and William are married! What we expected most in this royal wedding is the wedding gown. Let's check what they wear in the big day.

Bridal Gown

45.png
Kate wore an ivory and white satin gazar Alexander McQueen ball gown designed by Sarah Burton. Her hair, styled by James Pryce of the Richard Ward Salon, was worn half up. The Cartier "halo" tiara she wore had originally been presented to the Queen on her 18th birthday. Kate's diamond earrings were by Robinson Pelham and were a gift from her parents.Kate opted to do her own makeup after receiving several private lessons with Arabella Preston, a London makeup artist.

Flower Girls & Pageboys

111.png

Kate's bridal party included Grace van Cutsem (Will's goddaughter) and Eliza Lopes (Camilla's granddaughter), both age 3, as well as Lady Louise Windsor (Will's cousin), 7, and Margarita Armstrong-Jones (Will's second cousin), 8. All of the young bridesmaids wore custom white satin gazar dresses with pale gold sashes, designed by Nicki MacFarlane. The Prince's godson, Tom Pettifer, and Billy Lowther-Pinkerton, the son of Will's secretary, served as pageboys.

Bridesmaid

212.png

Kate's younger sister Pippa served as maid of honor and wore an ivory satin-based crepe gown with a cowl neckline, designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The bridesmaid dress is simple but elegant.

The Bouquet

312.png

Kate carried a small, shield-shaped wired bouquet of myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, Sweet William, and hyacinth.

The Kisses

5.png

At 1:25 p.m., the newlyweds appeared on the palace balcony to share a public kiss, a tradition begun by Charles and Diana. Royal Air Force planes flew overhead before the couple kissed once more (to the delight of everyone watching!), and then returned inside for a buffet-style wedding breakfast for 600, hosted by the Queen.

The Cake

6.png

The official Royal Wedding cake was a multi-tiered traditional fruitcake by British cake designer Fiona Cairns. The cake was decorated with the couple's new cipher and each tier had a different floral theme. The English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil, and Irish shamrock were all featured, as were Sweet William, lilies of the valley, and acorns (an architectural detail featured in the Picture Gallery where the cake was displayed).

A chocolate biscuit cake was also served. A childhood favorite of Will's, the cake was made by the McVitie's biscuit company and contained 35 pounds of chocolate and 1,700 McVitie's Rich Tea biscuits.

VANI CHIC & VANI CHOC by Hilde Soliani

VANI CHIC & VANI CHOC

By Felicia Hazzard

A Double Dose of Vanilla
Vanilla has the capacity to make foods and fragrances smell and taste so delicious. It happens to be my favorite all time flavor.
I always seem to purchase a fragrance with vanilla in it without knowing it. It just seems to reach out and grab me by saying,” Hi my name is Vanilla, now go ahead and buy me.”

Hilde Soliani, niche perfumer from Italy who happens to be one of my favorite perfumers for gourmand fragrances has once again lavishly saturated two new perfumes for women and men with vanilla.

VANI CHIC & VANI CHOC is two remarkably balanced fragrances that will tempt the palate of every vanilla fragrant fan!

VANI CHIC launched in 2010 features only the finest compositions of vanilla and brightly flavored citrus fruits.
This delightful gourmand contains…
TOP NOTES: bergamot, Amalfi lemon
MIDDLE NOTES: Madagascar vanilla
BASE NOTES: sandalwood
It gets sweeter by the moment with the creation of VANI CHOC. I actually thought this fragrance was a mixture of vanilla and chocolate due to the name of it, but there is not an ounce of chocolate in VANI CHOC but loads of two kinds of vanillas and sugar.

VANI CHOC is creamier and thicker than VANI CHIC. This gourmand is for serious connoisseurs that need a quick fix of ‘super sweet’. It contains Madagascar vanilla, Bourbon vanilla and sugar.

According to experts, to have a successful fragrance line, is not only about the scent but the look of the packaging.
Hilde Soliani chose for this particular collection the use of lively and bright boxes. The bright orange and shiny yellow boxes are representations of cheery, playful and a youthful outlook for VANI CHIC & VANI CHOC perfumes.

Weekend Dessert - Sauteed and Carmerlized Peaches

Sauteed and Carmerlized Peaches

By Anne Dessens

Really ripe juicy peaches tossed with a bit of lemon juice and sugar then sauteed with creamy butter is just heaven. It's tastes sinfully wicked for the waistline but in reality, it's just a little extra sugar and butter with some fruit. It's an option when you want a sweet ending to your healthy meal such as a nice main course dinner salad. Healthy, tasty and well-balanced doesn't have to be complicated. Serve as is in this recipe either warm, room temperature or chilled.

Let the sugar and butter caramelize in the pan and pour over dessert of your choice is another option for those feeling a little naughtier with their diets. Some choose to serve it with luscious caramel ice cream, or like my daughter who opts for individual chilled flans where you can add this recipe to a custard or vanilla pudding recipe, chill and serve. I prefer to serve this recipe with ice cream and lemon cake (both, together, layered).

This dessert is perfect for those week nights where you don't have much more energy than stir a few ingredients around in a skillet and when you have almost overripe peaches needing immediate attention. Peeling is optional. Sugar dosage depends on the sweetness of your peaches and your preference. Healthy desserts can be quick and easy. And they can taste fantastic.

I have not tried it with brown sugar but I think it will add a bit of added flavor to your caramel since brown sugar tends to work better when you are cooking it into a caramel. The contrast between the hot peaches and the cold ice cream or chilled flan is extremely comforting and highly recommended by this cook, especially if you are a little homesick for those sweet summer peaches and are looking for a little taste of home.

Sauteed Peaches au dessert

Using really ripe and not-so-pretty peaches. Peeling takes a few extra moments to prepare this dish but the result is a smoother, softer dessert.

  • 4-6 ripe peaches, yellow or white

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed

  • 3 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 tablespoons butter

Peel and slice peaches; toss with lemon juice; set aside until ready to serve dessert (cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate if not using right away). Melt butter on medium-high heat (without burning butter), add sugar and stir until creamy. Add peaches and saute for 5-8 minutes or until peaches are hot and sugar/butter mix starts to caramelize. Stir frequently to avoid burning and sticking.

Color in the Home Offers a Bright New Look

Color in the Home Offers a Bright New Look

By K. Pearson Brown

Add Excitement to a Room with Furniture and Accents with Color

Beige is out, bold is in. Color in unexpected places can rev up a room, giving it a fresh and exciting look. By infusing a room with vivid, bright or rich hues, even with a single item of furniture or décor, a staid living space can become a highlight of the home.

Many people believe that color is only for modern interiors, but that's not the case. Color is a great way to add some freshness to a more traditional look. A couple of strategically placed pieces and accents in a room can create a very stirring environment.

Here's a few colorful decorating ideas to create a new look in a room.

Wake Up on the Sunny Side

Make the bedroom a showroom with a contemporary bed that is gorgeous even without sheets. Look for innovative styles in contemporary colors such as purple, yellow, lime, chartreuse, orange and hot pink. A new trend in hi-tech beds is a light-up base that brings on the cool in a room. For youth bedrooms, beds that feature bold color and design - and even a headboard with built-in speakers and an iPod hook up, can make a bedroom rock.

For the living room, den or guest room, consider a colorful European-style sofa bed. These modern pull-outs are not only great solutions for small spaces where you need an extra bed that doesn't look like a bed, they liven up a room in sleek styles and colors. One store in the United States that carries these types of beds and sofa beds is Sapapa by Amianch.

Radiate Personality

Electronics are boring in basic black, but with the 24-inch Sceptre Galaxy Series LED HDTV ($399), design and color come together to make a statement of modernity and style. The housing for this ultra-slim flat panel pops in shiny red, pink, blue, pearl, white, black and chrome. Not only does this widescreen look sleek and sharp on the outside, it boasts a stunning picture with 1920 x 1080 resolution and rapid 5 ms response time and features dual HDMI ports and a USB port for use with an array of peripherals. Now available to consumers nationwide at Walmart, Target, Sears, Kmart, NewEgg, Amazon and QVC.

Color Says it All

Using a strong color in a piece of furniture is a tremendous opportunity to express your individuality and add excitement to a room. For the best design results, find a few accessories to compliment the color so the 'look' is successful throughout the room.

Also, consider the emotions colors will arouse and what mood you want to elicit in a room.

Orange is a very stimulating and exciting color to use. Purple, a very regal color, can also be very fun and playful. Consult a designer to help you achieve the look and feeling you want a room to have.

Silver Hoop Earrings Are Always In Style!

Silver Hoop Earrings Are Always In Style!

By Shawna Norry

It has been many centuries now that women have worn earrings. Stud earrings, dangle earrings and hoop earrings in silver and gold can be viewed in any number of jewelry boxes and armoires around the world. We have seen peacock feathers, turquoise, crystals, and cubic zirconium, costume jewelry, silver, gold and platinum gold which looks just like silver, so many styles over the decades. One must admit that not all of these styles and colors can hold up over time. As fashion always does, accessories run out of runway and fall out of style.

We have all witnessed styles come and go. They are in one day and out the next. One day as I was looking through my jewelry armoire for just the right set of earrings. You know the ones; the set that will not over power the fabulous necklace you have on yet will command attention and not hide from the world under your long hair. The "go to" accessory that you always seem to turn to in time of need, you can always count on. Of course they were there, they are always there waiting for me. My go to set is...my silver hoop earrings. And really why wouldn't they be there? Since I was old enough to wear earrings I have owned at least one pair of the silver hoop variety.

Silver hoop earrings have become my go to piece of jewelry. They can dress up a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. The same pair can be worn with a black cocktail dress and fabulous necklace and bring the house down. I have in fact had one pair in particular in my accessory kit for 10 years now. 10 years! Most of us don't even keep a car that long! This says a lot about the value of this particular pair of earrings and how much I depend on them.

This is why silver hoop earrings are by far my favorite style of earring to wear. The hoop will always be in fashion and so will silver. While we have seen gold come and go with the changing winds, silver always seems to persevere through the storm. The hoop itself can be created in many different sizes and shapes. There is the thin set that can range from small to extra-large. The thicker set which tends to stay on the smaller side ranging in size from extra small to medium. The jeweled set which I love to wear dressed up. This set usually has some type of diamond or crystal set in it around the hoop. They give off just the right amount of sparkle. Let's not forget about the hoop with the dangle charm. This is a hoop earring usually in a medium to large size. At the base of the hoop is a charm of some sort. It can be a snowman during the holidays, a pumpkin at Halloween, a crystal or a colored gemstone to accent your outfit. One of my personal favorites is the two-tone pair. This pair is both silver and gold. It is best used for dressier occasions like a nice dinner date or an evening with the girls.

You will find hoop styles everywhere you find earrings and you will find a huge price range. At the local discount store you will find sets for fewer than ten dollars. You can also walk in to the high-end jeweler and find styles for hundreds of dollars. Most of the time price is a reflection of quality but not always the case with this style of earring. You can find mid range prices and still get high-end quality. I do all of the time. But if you decide to spend the money at a high-end jeweler rest assured that you will be able to use this pair of earrings for years to come so it will not be money wasted.

Whichever your hoop style preference you can be sure that when you find that special pair you will find value in them for many years to come. Whether you are going to a baseball game, a girl's night out, dinner with partner or even a day at work this style will see you through thick and thin. The pairing options are endless and you can count on always being in style. This will become your "go to" piece of jewelry. If only wardrobe choices were this simple!

Classic Lemon Mojito

Classic Lemon Mojito

Author: Tara Casey

  1. The Classic Lemon Mojito is the perfect drink for any occasion. A formal dinner, a casual lunch with friends or even a late night party. The classic lemon mojito can also be drunk with any food, I do suggest fish though as the tastes compliment eachother outstandingly.

The Classic Lemon Mojito is also very good for you as it contains lemon and mint which are proven to be very good for you. The lemon has antiseptic properties, preventing sepsis and contains a great source of vitamin C which is an important ingredient, especially for healthy gums and absorptian of iron. The Lemon is also a brilliant antioxidant. Heartburn, Bloating and Belching are relieved due to its digestive properties. Mint stimulates brain activity and alertness, clears nasal passages and throats and freshens breath.

To make this wonderful beverage you will need the following:

  • Lemon

  • Sugar

  • Mint

  • Water

  • Ice

(The quantities are up to you)

How to make the Mojito:

  1. Firstly cut the lemons in half and juice them and pour the juice into your blender.

  2. Secondly add the fresh, clean mint leaves to the lemon .

  3. Thirdly add as many tablespoons as you prefer to the mixture .

  4. Then, Add the cool water to the mixture of Mint, Lemon and Sugar. Add the cold water so that the mixture is half lemon juice and half water.

  5. Turn the blender on and let it run at a regular speed until the mint is in small pieces (the size of the rubber on the back of a pencil)

  6. Turn the Blender off and then pour the Mojito into tall chilled glasses.

  7. Add Ice if you like.

Serving tips:

  • If you are serving this beverage at an afternoon tea party or a casual lunch. Why not add a colouful umbrella on the edge of the cup and possibly a nice colourful straw.

  • If you prefer to make the drink a more elegant drink for an evening party (etc) you could possibly add a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass.

  • make sure the drink is chilled.

  • Do not add too much sugar to your mojito.

  • If you like, do not add any sugar to the mixture and make a seperate syrup so that your guests can sweeten the mojito as they like.

I hope that after reading this article/recipe you decide to make this beverage as in my opinion it is the perfect beverage for any occasion; healthy, tasty and easy to make!

How to Look Stylish Review - Best Guide to Look Casual But Stylish After 40

How to Look Stylish Review - Best Guide to Look Casual But Stylish After 40

Author: mjreview

Some people prefer these method :

1. Wear a Dress with Leggings

Short flowing mini dresses worn with bare legs and heels look wonderful on twenty- and thirty-year-olds, but i am not saying they are off limits to women over 40. Many of these dresses look an awful lot like long tops, and so they look fantastic on if you pair them with dark leggings, and ballerina slippers, or flat boots. Now before you cross your arms and say, "That's not me," give it a try. This can be a chic and very comfortable look and when you try it, you will be hooked.

2. Add a Wide Belt for your Outfit

The quickest way to go from boring to brilliant after 40 is to give a wide belt to your casual weekend outfit. A wide belt worn loosely at the hip will instantly add a touch from the wow factor, kicking casual up several notches. Wearing your wide belt at the hip is also a fantastic way to camouflage a mummy tummy which many of us have after 40.

3. Splurge on a Sweater Wrap

Transitioning into fall has never been easier or even more fun, than having a wrap. Just putting it on will make you seem like you have more flare and class. Be it cashmere wrap shawl, a poncho or a sweater wrap jacket that cascades down the front a sweater wrap adds chic, developed style to some very casual look.

4. Find some Fun Flat Shoes

If you love to wear your jeans about the weekend, update them with an excellent set of flats. Not just would be the super comfortable, but they're and easy way to add personality for your outfit. Picture brownish jeans along with a top with a playful pair of snakeskin flats. Casual, but classy!

5. Top it Off having a Hat

Weekends bring a welcome vary from having to do our hair. Believe to come out with bad hair but still feel great rather than hide it within stylish cap! This year men's wear is big. The fedora is everywhere and French berets give a touch of elegance too. Hats are an easy way to finish off an informal look thus making you look Fabulous after 40!

For some reason, it seems rather difficult for most people to perform, but you do not worry because there are more creative methods to do it.

Now, let's discuss about How to Look Stylish created by Annette Welsford and just how it may help you. I hope this short How to Look Stylish Review will aid you to differentiate whether How to Look Stylish is Scam or perhaps a Genuine.

It's a common problem. You want to look casual but stylish but that doesn't always seem to go together. The Importance of Sunglasses in Everyday Life

The Importance of Sunglasses in Everyday Life

By Polly Morgan

Originally, sunglasses were only worn by wealthy men and women to shield their eyes from the ravages of the sun. Lower-income people were stuck squinting against the glaring light of the sun as they worked in the fields and in the streets providing food and transportation for the wealthy.

Today, sunglasses are so common that even infants can own a pair, and hey look incredibly adorable in them too. Sunglasses have become a fashion accessories that few can go without them once they step outside their doors. There are fashion sunglasses, sportsman's sunglasses, athlete's sunglasses, and prescription sunglasses. You'll find sunglasses everywhere; the beach, the parking lot, the state fair, and the ski slopes are all places where you'll find people wearing sunglasses.

Sunglasses are important, and here are a few reasons why.

On the Water

Believe it or not, wearing sunglasses while on the water, whether boating, water skiing, or fishing, should be a requirement. Not only can the glare of the sun off the water be damaging to the eyes, but the glare can also be distracting if you're driving a boat at top speed or are trying to judge the correct distance to the next water ski jump. To keep your sunglasses securely fastened to your person, you should probably wear a sunglass chain attached to sunglass holders.

Sunglass holders are loops that attach to the end of eyeglass chains, and can be either simple or elaborately designed.

On the Slopes

When winter sets in and the snow addicts hit the slopes, one of the first things they add to their equipment bag is a pair of sunglasses. Attaching your sunglasses to their snow suits might be tricky, but they could always use an oversize zipper loop as an impromptu sunglass holder.

Just like when you're on the water, the glare from the sun on the white snow can cause visual impairment, and even some pretty nasty sunburn. Wearing sunglasses while spending the day on the ski slopes can help you see better, and keep you out of the optometrist's office.

On the Beach

It's hard to set foot on the beach and not notice the droves of people sunning themselves while wearing a pair of sunglasses. Sunglasses on the beach are like butter on toast-absolutely necessary. Since common beachwear doesn't really allow for zippers or other kinds of loops, someone should invent the bikini sunglass holder - they'd probably make a fortune.

In the City

While leisurely walking down the sidewalk of your favorite town or big city, you'd be remiss if you weren't wearing a pair of fashion sunglasses. In the city, sunglasses play two distinct roles: for fashion, and for optical protection. If you are wearing your sunglasses to protect your eyes for errands, then you should invest in a good eyeglass necklace that comes with a pair of sunglass holders.

In the Country

Rural areas and farmland are optimal locations for wearing sunglasses. While out tending crops or livestock, the sun can do some serious damage to the human eye. Not only is wearing sunglass protect the eyes from solar rays, it also prevents glare when driving heavy machinery or doing dangerous work with potentially dangerous tools and equipment.

Sunglasses really are important in everyday life whether you're a beach bum, a rancher, someone walking to work.

Thick Silk Ties - An Actual Trend Among Men

Thick Silk Ties - An Actual Trend Among Men

By Kyle Jhonson

Silk is a very special fabric and if you touch it once, you can never forget its soft feel and the specific light reflections that have attracted mankind since its discovery. Many cultures are related to the silk and silk manufacturing. The history tells us that some ancient civilizations were directly tied to the silk commerce and that it always was a very expensive and appreciated fabric. For example, the Japanese culture and art is very close to the silk production and to the silk culture. Clothes and accessories were manufactured since the ancient times and were worn as a sign of the social status.

Nowadays, the silk is produced the same way it was produced hundreds of years ago and nothing too substantial has changed in the industry of the silk's manufacturing. The same silk worms are used to produce this fine and unique fabric, and there is still no other synthetic compound that would replace them. The silk worms are producing the silk for their cocoons, but it is then collected by men and spun, so that they obtain a thin and exceptional silk thread. The silk's quality depends on the worms that produce it and the way they make their cocoons.

No matter how the silk is made and either it is of the best quality or not, from my point of view it will always be the most suitable fabric for a tie because of the beautiful light reflections and the shine that it spreads, that draws more attention to your outfit and yourself.

A silk tie is not so easy to make, and sometimes the designers' exaggerated pricing for them is justified by the fact that they have to cut from exclusive silk canvases and trash a lot of the remaining fabric. A tie needs to be cut on the diagonal of the fabric's weaving, so that it will be centered and it keeps its balance. To make it properly structured and accordingly designed, the tie manufacturers have to use a lot of their precious silk fabric.

The thick silk ties have now became a very popular trend and men of any age group are tempted to wear them more and more, instead of narrow ties or those made out of other fabrics. This is because the silk offers a very special and rich folding, it behaves very chic and if you are a real connoisseur, then you know that the richer the tie's knot is, the more masculinity and style it radiates. The other fabrics, such as wool or cotton will never behave the same and will not offer the same glam and shine that a silk tie's offering.

If you want to add more freshness to your wardrobe, than a thick silk tie is all what you need to put more class on your appearance. Also, if you are a woman searching for a suitable and yet practical present for your beloved man's anniversary or Christmas or other special event, then a good thick silk tie will always be appreciated and a good idea. A tie is the type of the present with which you rarely can go wrong with, because it is always actual and it never will get out of fashion. To make the best choice, you have to somehow find a link between your man's character and the colors of the tie. A thick tie will go best with a well-made suit or a "V" shaped sweater.

If you want to know more about thick silk ties and where to buy them, please follow the links in this signature box and visit my site. You can find more information about the available models and how to buy a set of thick silk ties for you or for your beloved man.

Use calm, soothing color items for a tropical paradise and some fun in the sun. What to wear on Aloha Fridays? Read on to find out.

Starting with the ladies, the possibilities are endless when wearing Hawaiian shirts. Wear a solid color pair of khakis, capri pants, or a skirt. The color will match the shirt so it will blend in beautifully. Gorgeous tropical flowers can be a great complement to a woman's skin tone. Use lighter makeup to bring out the colors of the shirt or use eye-popping eye shadow to create an awesome look. Then, pull the hair back and add a beautiful tropical flower on your ear to match. Maybe add a flower bracelet to complement the shirt along with a pair of tropical flower sandals. Use a sexy summer Hawaiian dress that is designed as a T-shirt or shirt dress. Just hide a pair of bikini shorts underneath it. It will look super hot and sexy. There can be a variety of flowers; beach scenes, gorgeous beach sunsets, or even birds of paradise can make great conversation pieces. Add beach jewelry and hair accessories and Aloha Friday is ready to kick back and party.

With the guys for Aloha Fridays, a simple Hawaiian shirt is easier. They already look great, so its time to add an air of sexiness and casualness. Throw out the strict business mannerism, show your true self and shock everyone. Definitely choose a color that will match your skin tone. A lot of times red, yellow, or orange will not look great on a guy. Go for the popular blues, greens, and purples. Blend the colors into a great scene that will be the talk of everyone. Leave the Hawaiian shirt half unbuttoned for a casual, sexy look. How about five o' clock somewhere? A Margarita in one hand kicking back on the beach with a sexy lady in a bikini is a great Hawaiian shirt. If flowers are fine, then mix it with some hot chicks, water, and sun. Do not forget a great pair of black sunglasses and sandals.

There are a thousand different ways to wear a Hawaiian shirt for Aloha Fridays. Definitely make it fun and a party atmosphere with punch, food, and snacks along with plenty of decor. Once Aloha Fridays are created, there is never going back. This is some serious fun!

The Origins of The Cocktail Dresses

The Origins of The Cocktail Dresses

By Jesse Love

Designer Christian Dior is credited with coining the term cocktail dress during the late-1940's, using the term in reference to early evening wear. Yet the style had actually been around since the mid-1920's. Cocktail parties first emerged during Prohibition, and were held in private homes or speakeasies. Contraband liquor was expensive, so of course most of the attendees were wealthy individuals who viewed the gatherings as chic social events.

For the women attending, these drinking get-togethers were too formal for regular daywear, but too informal for true evening wear, so a new fashion evolved that was initially inspired by flapper dresses. Originally designed for younger women, the new cocktail dresses were short, and typically made from silk and layered chiffon. This allowed for the women to still look fashionable, without having to get too dressed up.

These new dresses then prompted the development of unique cocktail accessories such as small handbags, simple shoes that usually color matched the dress, short gloves, and a small hat. This accessory style remained the norm up through the mid-1960's. As you know you cannot be fashionable without a few accessories to go with your outfit.

After alcohol was again legalized in 1933 and cocktail parties became more and more common, dresses began to be designed for more mature women. Silk remained the preferred fabric, but the cut of the dresses became more refined and form-fitting, evolving into the classic "little black dress" that soon became a staple in every woman's wardrobe. You had to have the classic black dress for that particular party.

Today, cocktail dresses are suitable for both cocktail parties and semi-formal events. They come in a variety of color, print and cut, with the elaborateness of the dress, length, and amount of skin revealed varying according to the context for which the dress was designed. Even though hats and gloves are no longer in fashion, a classic, well-fitted, short black dress with a clutch purse and stylish shoes remains perfect for any informal occasion where cocktails will be served.

Staying true to form our woman have been able to take this outfit and keep it classic but still able to add modern style to the ensemble. One of the things that I like most about this outfit is the fact that not only are you able to it through various accessories such as jewelery and handbags but you can also wear the outfit with no accessories. Because it is so fabulous just by itself you do not have to put together a lot of pieces to go with it.

A Better Artichoke Dip

A Better Artichoke Dip

By Marcia Pandolfi

Artichoke Dip. Everyone has a recipe for it, tons of restaurants (both indie and chain) offer it, and the flavors are, in order of appearance: salt, oil, garlic powder, onion powder, something you can't identify, and then artichoke hearts. Usually, you have me at "artichoke," but I've been endlessly disappointed at restaurants and parties, and I'm here to offer my take on this super trendy dish. It's as simple and lovely as anything you can dip a chip in, and it's my solution to the bummer of artichoke heart mistreatment I've so far experienced.

Artichokes Cellini.

This is my favorite (and only) artichoke dip recipe. I got my Artichokes Cellini recipe from Not Just Pasta, a restaurant where I waited tables in the early '90s. Sadly, the restaurant no longer exists, but some of its recipes live on through many who worked there.

Artichokes Cellini

16 oz. cream cheese

1 (14oz) can artichoke hearts -not marinated

juice from 1 small lemon

4 Tbs butter

1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated or shredded)

1/4 cup green onion, chopped

1. Let cream cheese and butter soften in a mixing bowl at room temperature (1/2 - 1 hour).

2. In the meantime, open and drain can of artichoke hearts, squeezing out the water.

3. Cut off and discard the tough and prickly parts.

4. Add artichoke hearts to cream cheese and butter and mix.

5. Add juice from lemon, and half of the parmesan cheese, continue mixing.

6. Once mixed, transfer to baking dish and top with the rest of the parmesan and green onions.

7. Bake (uncovered) at 350-375F for 20-30 minutes.

8. Cool for 5-10 minutes and serve with french bread, pita chips, or any dip-able, hand-held starch.

Where's the garlic? It's not in this recipe, but you can add it. I'd saute just a clove or 2 crushed, in butter, on low heat for a few minutes before adding it to the cream cheese/artichoke mixture. I don't usually add it because the flavors are so nice, already, and I don't want it to step on the dinner that follows. If it's a party food, then go crazy!

You can substitute neufchatel for cream cheese (1/3 less fat) and cut the butter with a healthy spread, but keep some butter, and stay away from fat-free cream cheese. That stuff is just plain wrong.

Also makes a great quiche!

3 Easy Steps To A Super Sexy Smoky Eye

3 Easy Steps To A Super Sexy Smoky Eye

By Beth Bender

In many circles I am known as the "smoky eye expert" and get called on regularly for my tips and advice on creating them with ease. I love the classic charcoal smudgy eye shadow look, but in reality it's perfect for the runway, and if you're an eye rubber you may not last through the night. For me, it's all about a softer variation of a heavy smoky eye, especially for going out, or wearing during the day. The most important thing to remember when applying eye makeup is that less is more. Smoky eyes are all about layering the color to create depth, and give you a more finished and flattering look.

For doing a professional looking smoky eye on yourself, the three most important things to keep in mind when creating toned-down smoky eyes are:

1. Use soft shades: Choose a shadow in a taupe, slate, plum, or soft shimmer, and apply onto eyelids and lower lash line, Use a medium size eyeshadow brush for the eyelid, and underneath the eye. Next apply an eyeshadow in a contrasting color to the outer corners and into the crease. For example if you are wearing a plum shadow, your contrasting color might be a brown, or a slate shimmer. It is also sometimes a pretty effect to apply a lighter shimmer in the center of the eyelid and blending slightly. It opens the eyes, and can be done day or night. For added drama you can add a black liner and apply it along the lashline. To finish your smoky eyes, apply a black or dark brown mascara. Two coats for added glamour. Focus on the outer lashes for an elongated effect.

2. It's all about blending: The best smoky eyes are blended so that the color looks like it is going from one shade to another without any hard lines. To blend your shadow, using either a blender brush, or medium size eyeshadow brush, sweep along the edges of the shadow and back and forth until lines are softened. If wearing eyeliner you can sweep a brush over the liner to soften as well.

3. Don't pile on tons of color at once: As I mentioned above, It is easier to build up the intensity as you go, than it is to scale back. There is nothing worse then having to remove color. Starting light, and adding more color until you achieve the desired effect is a good formula for success.
